I found a couple of other gentle birth threads but they were all over a year old so I didn't want to bump them (pun intended)

I was wondering are any of ye doing the daily training on the gentle birth app?
I've had the app just over a week, but my daily training track/exercise thing just keeps showing the same one thing - Cocoon of Calm. I'm still very early on in my pregnancy, so I don't know if that might be why it's not changing.

Has anyone else experienced this? I was thinking of going on and listening to a few of the other tracks, but wasn't sure if there's a particular order I should be doing that in.

    https://www.gentlebirth.com/

This kinda explains it, it's meditation and mindfulness stuff that can help you stay calm and not panic during labour and help you manage fear (at least that's my understanding of it) you used to get the tracks on CD but now it's done via the app. There are also workshops you can go to as well.

Is this the one that's €12.99 for three months? I was going to get it for the last three months of my pregnancy.

I am using a free app called Mind the Bump to curb my anxiety. It is Australian and the meditations are pretty short (under 10 minutes each). They cover loads of different topics like regular breathing stuff, managing thoughts, connecting with baby etc. I have found it really helpful.

+1 on this, my midwife recommended this to me yesterday so I will be downloading it. Good to hear you are finding it beneficial

You will get other tracks to listen to as time goes on but you can explore the whole app and add ones you like to your favorites. there's a private FB page tooz

Hi Toots, I have used Gentlebirth for all three of my pregnancies. After I had my second baby I trained as a Gentlebirth instructor and I have now being teaching Gentlebirth for four years! The app was launched in 2016 and is tailored to each user specifically so that you will get presented with different tracks depending on the information that you logged when you were registering initially. You can of course go through each aspect of the app yourself and familiarise yourself with the different tracks and see the ones that you really enjoy. I tend now to listen to the tracks that are presented to me by the app, but I also have my favorites saved so that I can quickly access them when I want to, you can also listen to the tracks saved in the favorites section without wifi which makes it very handy for listening to when at appointments, whilst flying etc. If however you have any difficulty at all with the app please do send use the feedback button to contact the gentlebirth team and they can check out if there is something going on for you that has resulted in the tracks not changing.

There is also a wonderful online support group, its a closed facebook group, so no one other than members of the group can see your posts. Tracy Donegan, the founder of Gentlebirth is the group administrator and is online several hours of every day answering members questions. The group is largely made up of women who have used, or are using the Gentlebirth programme for their pregnancy or post partum period but there are a number of birth professionals on the group including midwives, doula's, gentlebirth instructors, women's health physios etc who are all available to seek advice from

Huge congratulations and wishing you a very healthy pregnancy

    Hi Toots,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

If you go into your profile settings in the App and click on 'App Support' our tech support can help you immediately. I don't think I can post the email address here for tech support but you can message me and we can get that issue fixed right away.

One of the great aspects of using an Irish based App is the ongoing support from Irish midwives in the private group so be sure to connect in with us on Facebook too and message me anytime if I can help you further. It's a great place to connect with likeminded parents and learn more about using the program in your hospital.

Just to add in very early pregnancy Cocoon of Calm is recommended as it's a lovely short session for the first trimester - you'll see some additional short hypnosis sessions being added next week.  We don't want to overwhelm mums with 'homework' right at the beginning but as your pregnancy progresses the training will change and as Tricia suggested you can go into self paced training and use any of the other 70+ Mp3s.  The Sleep Sanctuary is brilliant to help you get some decent sleep in the coming weeks while your training recommendations kick in. :)

Can I just make a suggestion that you could expand the subscription options. I'm not into mindfulness usually and I wanted to use the app for pregnancy. 13e a month is a steep monthly subscription but the yearly option wasn't for me as there would be at least three months "wasted" as such. Somewhere in between like a 6 month subscription in and around the 10e would have been great

Edit: Also it took a lot of scanning of titles related to pregnancy to find the ones for miscarriage. It would be nice if you could add a setting for this or have them somewhere more obvious than "hypnosis"

Thank you for the feedback on the subscription options.
The tracks are organized in different ways depending on which 'journey' the subscriber chooses.  Specialised sessions such as those for pregnancy loss and birth trauma are also found in the Self Paced training section in 'Specialised' if the woman didn't choose 'special circumstances' when setting up her profile.  Hope that helps.  Per board rules I can't engage in any further App discussions.

    Thanks everyone
