Attic Conversion & Attic Access Hatches for BER A rated house

Hello.I am in the process of getting an attic conversion done on a new ber a2 rated house. Im just wondering how you maintain the ber rating / air tightness with the access hatches to the eves. Can you get special hatches that achieve this? I dont think that the standard MDF hatches will achieve this at all. Also, anyone familiar with an attic conversion company in the dublin area that have a familiarity with BER A rated attic conversions?

Where is your current insulation envelope and air tightness envelope?

Would you need special hatches if the envelope was in the full pitch of the roof?

Its in the floor of the current attic. I see your point but the problem with insulating the full pitch of the roof is that you would then be heating both the room itself and the quite large eves areas

Your problem now is how you break and repair and continue the insulation/air tightness envelope. You will reduce your BER because of the increased volume of space (I would imagine).

Where will your water tank be?

Maybe you could look at using the Passive house hatches in a different orientation so they work in the knee walls?

Maybe you can order them cheaper online. These things are very common here in Germany (can buy them in any diy place). They are called Kniestocktüren in German. Example:

Very helpful! I rang ecological building solutions but they only do a 600 x 600 mm hatch, too small to replace water tanks etc. Anyone know about any company that does bigger ones?
