Have any of you been?,a few of us are looking to go away for a weeks cycling in some mountain range next year, this seems like a convenient option as there are daily flights out of Cork, and its not far from Malaga airport (less than 1.5 hours).

This crowd look like a good set up.

    Any opinions appreciated.
    Thanks.

    It's a great week's cycling with CSN.

I've been twice, albeit with the Yoga4Cyclists group. So I had some food put in the cupboard to get us through the opening days. Spanish shop's opening hours are a law unto their selves.
I'm not sure what it's like without a crew of amigos.

Cormac, the leader, is from Donegal and he knows lots of good caf?s and fountains to refill bottles.
He comes home to race the Ras Dhun na nGall most years. James Curry was racing on his team two years ago, when he won it.

There's a few good routes he does. Up to Trevelez (highest village in mainland Spain, also famous for some Ham), along the coast to Lujar and back up a really long climb.
The kit he sells is really nice. The shorts are excellent, everyone who has them agrees.

The roads are in fantastic shape and there's not too much traffic.
    Practice your descending of hairpins!

Ive been a few times too with CSN and have the kit after! theres some classic challenging routes, landscape is savage and the climbs are long too. great roads
the transfer from Malaga to the town makes it really really handy and theres bike rental to save that bit of hassle

i once saw a one legged chap turn off the road leading to orgiva, up the climb which brings you up to bubion.
to be fair, that did give him a weight advantage.

Stayed in Rhonda for a week a few years ago, cycled 6am to midday everyday. Beautiful. Lovely roads. Great place.

Was there last year in mid May, six of us traveled from Cork/Malaga.

Rented bikes from Cormac Keeney at Cycle Sierra Nevada, he arranged transfers from Malaga for about €75 each way for us all. Stayed in a small hotel in Velez Da Benadualla where Cormac is based.
    €40 B & B
Three course meal with wine in village for €15 a head.

He transferred us up to Granada on one of the days so we could have a crack at Pico, got to 3000 metres but the snow hampered a full ascent.

The best roads I have ever cycled on,a really fantastic place to ride a bike. A hidden gem really and so much better than the normal run of the mill cycling destinations. Was even better than Girona, and that's saying something. We picked our own routes and did our own thing but met up with Cormac the odd night for a beer.

    Its brilliant pkvader.....go for it
