How long is a piece of string

There are various conditions around this

The speed of the traffic on the road
    The type of opening required
The process that will be undertaken to back fill said road

And both a council and Eir are a nightmare to deal with

Unless it's a major road just do it at night or early morning on the QT.
Check what's down there before you dig of course.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

That's why the roads in Tuam are in such a poor state, road openings not back filled properly, obviously not inspected by Council Engineers, leading me to believe that they were done on the QT.
Please stop encouraging people to break the law.

    :D:D

The worst culprits for opening the roads and not back filling properly and making good are the council themselves.
