Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

RTE commentary a second or so ahead of real play. Very annoying!

Decent start so far - definitely goals in this one!

Should be 1-1 already with 7mins gone

Ronaldo playing wider and deeper than usual and doing a good job. Definitely defying the "he disappears " notion

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Bruno Alves is playing cause Fernando Couto is busy I assume?

The commentators next door are very chatty too. About 5 word for every one that George/Ronnie say.

Not quite the goal fest predicted but still exciting as 0-0's go.

Always amazed Jara was down in the lower divisions in England in prime of his career, he's always been sublime in possession, la liga would have been a better fit for him.

Couldn't defend for peanuts though. Had some shockers for West Brom and Forest in his time there. Some leagues suit different players, he wasn't that good in England though.

Beausejour struggled to get into the Wigan team. Vargas and Isla were awful at QPR. Aside from Alexis Chileans appear to struggle in England.

Is it just me or do both Ronnie & George keep calling Adrien Silva, Andre Silva?

    I can't believe a game involving Portugal is 0-0 after 80 minutes.

Oh Lord :o Thanks for that. Between Adrien Silva, Andre Silva and Andre Gomes, it's a confusing team :o

Just be glad he didn't say Nuno instead of Andre.

Good sign for the world cup next year is how mild the weather seems there during these games. Seems like perfect playing conditions which isn't always the case at world cups.

Will Chile bring on Salas and Zamarano for ET to bring a youthful element into their attack?

    Portugal blessed there.

He clearly stood on his foot. Should have been a penalty.

    Awfully timed tackle.

Jesus, if ever there was a perfect opportunity to use the video ref:confused:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,617 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Yet another Silva on the pitch now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭jamescd

Ref didn't call for a video replay? What's the point of the bloody thing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,161 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Surely they'd be better off having a video ref with the ability to feed info to the refs ear at will after watching replays. The problem with referees getting so many decisions wrong is how everybody watching on TV can see that the decision was wrong within seconds, use that to your advantage ffs

The two lads in the video booth got bored and changed channels ages ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,617 ✭✭✭caviardreams

    Unbelievable!!

I think it's probably fine. I'm a big rugby fan and hate over use of the TMO.

Put it this way, the refs have to have a certain conviction in decisions they make without over relying on the replays. Otherwise, what's the point of the ref?

Shame if Chile don't go through. Easily the better side. Awful luck tonight.

Clear penalty, why wasn't ref told it was a pen ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    Portugal haunted.

Theyre a shoe in to win on penalties now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

This is like Portuglas route to winning the Euros. :o

All his years of commentating you would think Clive Tisley would know you can't change the order of the 1st five pen takers.

Because the ref has to ask for the review

So much pride in that jersey. Love Chile

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭jamescd

Bravo is like a completely different player when he puts on the Chile shirt.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Burial.

About time Ronaldo gets punished for his nonsense of trying to claim the spotlight getting the last penalty. Simply have to have your best spotters first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,787 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Fair play Bravo. Makes the taker work for it, I'd always call the takers bluff and stay on the line till they kick the ball.
