Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Surprised Valencia hasn’t been shown a red there. I thought those challenges were sending offs now.

Newcastle have been excellent today. Diame was very impressive.

Breathless ending. The keeper is an instant Georgie legend, Newcastle jump up the table.

Brilliant result for the rest of the top 4 pack.

Dirt from Valencia, should have been a straight red card but it's Man United so you know. It's the same reason Newcastle were denied a clear penalty.

    Keeper had a great game.

Mourinho never won a league game at St James' Park.

21 points on offer - has won 3.

Considering how poor Elliot and Darlow have been, Dubravka may well prove to be the best signing they've made in a while if he performs like that every week.

Pogba looking world class again head and shoulders better than any midfielder in England.

Looked out of his depth again.

Have to admit there's a bit of schadenfreude seeing United concede the winning goal from a free-kick awarded for an embarrassing Smalling dive.

Good result for Newcastle but United probably should’ve won it. 3 clear chances that you’d expect a decent finisher to put away, unfortunately they fell to Martial.

Also, great performance from Shelvey. Looked like the €100 million midfielder out there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,037 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

    Arsenal
Utd before sanchez 3 losses in 24 games.
Utd after Sanchez 2 losses in 3 games.

Coincidence, maybe Wenger knew all along.

I'll be honest here. I didn't think Shelvey had that type of performance in him.

Without Pirlo's footballing brain beside him in midfield Pogba just looks like bambi running around not knowing what to do.

He is a great athlete but not football brain at all in him.

I hated watching him in a Liverpool shirt, sh!te very frustrating player. He won’t have another performance like that.

He just can't play in a 2 man midfield. Everyone bar Jose can see this.

United created enough and should have won.

    Xg shows this
    Newcastle 0.7 - 1.9 Man United .

Yeah but Actual Goals shows this

    Newcastle 1-0 Man United.

That was Newcastle's first home win since mid October and that was a 1-0 against Crystal Palace who were in bits at that time.

    Well no it's expected goals.

Maybe you should suggest expected red cards and expected penalties to the stats makers.

Fair play to Newcastle they took their one big chance.
Just saying wasn't like united didnt create anything the chances they created should have been enough to win the game.

Quite like that xg stat personally
Should be used more during live games.

This is such a disingenuous way of looking at that game. Both of your statements are correct, but it in no way represents how that game went.

No either does Xg what does represent how the match went was the final scoreline and Newcastle won that.

Some interesting Opta Stats after NU v MU today.

    - Jose Mourinho has now lost six times against Rafa Benitez in all competitions. Only against Pep Guardiola (9) has he suffered more defeats as a manager.

    - Newcastle enjoyed their first win in nine Premier League home games (D3 L5), since beating Crystal Palace in October.

    - Mourinho has still never won a Premier League match at St. James’ Park (P7 W0 D3 L4) and has managed more away league games at Newcastle without winning than at any other club in his managerial career.

    - The Red Devils have won only one of the nine Premier League matches this season after conceding the opening goal of the game (D3 L5), courtesy of a 4-1 win v Newcastle in November.

In other news, Liverpool are in cruise control against Southampton, 0-2. Only thing that can stop a comfortable win are some crazy antics at the back from Liverpool.

Hugely impressive signing Mo Salah has become.

I said if his finishing improved when he signed he could be a massive player for Liverpool and credit where credit is due. He's done just that.

Sickener but what ya gonna do

Maybe not recently but he missed a lot of easy chances early on in season.

He could probably have 30 league goals had he taken some of them.

Between him & De Bruyne for player of season.

Don't think Salah is close to De Bruyne although not saying he cannot get there, that lad is a different gravy.

It's always extremely risky with Liverpool. If someone posts that you are home and hosed, Shane Long would probably come off the bench and score a hat trick.

this is going to the toughest relegation battle I can remember - hopefully Stoke and West Brom go down - really brought very little positivity to the league

In terms of fight I haven't seen much of it from Southampton this season. The fans today put every bit of energy into booing Van Dijk & the team could have conceded 4 or 5 today had Liverpool not been so sloppy

Van Dijk clean sheet and Liverpool win. The first of many.

Southampton are the worse team i've seen in the Premiership this season.
    No fight at all.
    Certs for the drop imo.

The scrap for 2nd-4th could turn out to be very interesting. Same with the dogfight to avoid the drop.
