Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't know about that. He takes no messing and i'd love to see him with proper players and a budget.
I get the feeling that you do it his way or he'd clock you.

Main reason I couldn't see Dyche touching Arsenal.

I wonder how Dyche would do with good players and a proper budget. I'd give him a go at Arsenal for a season to see. He seems to get the most out of what he has.

You'd give him a year which is what, 2 windows at most, to try and sort out the issues at Arsenal. Is that really fair? Why would he subscribe to that?

It would take patience and time though for him to get the players on board to his ideas. Weed out the ones that aren't willing and get in ones that are. The pressure and scrutiny are such at arsenal that I don't think he would get the time to implement his ideas.

Yeah maybe not long enough. But someone needs to crack heads at the club with all the prima donnas waltzing around and not putting in an effort. Some of the displays (Mustafi for instance against Aguero) and then not being dropped for the next game disgusts many fans. There are others too.

I would actually think he would do a better job with the English national set up rather than a big club..

Not sure that style of management really works especially with top players. Reading Pochettino’s book, he talks about having to moddycoddle players now if you want to hold on to them. If they’re left out of the team, their agents are on the phone to other clubs and players’ families and friends are in their ear to leave.

Dyche’s style of football is also limited. It’s like Moyes or Allardyce - effective to a certain level.

If that's what happens then the game is in a sad state.

It probably mirrors wider society a bit. You go hard on an employee like 20-30 years ago and you end up with them going to HR or leaving.

Not that people should go to work to be abused but if you **** up you should be accountable. Anyway, I’m off on a tangent here.

I fear a loss here for Arsenal might mean the end for Wenger :(

    Wenger out by tomorrow?

    Hah.

Brighton have put in bags of effort and have gotten at Arsenal through sheer strength of will at times, but they really haven't had to show quality.

That is a good cross and finish, but more piss-weak guff by Arsenal.

Arsenal are looking like they're about to crumble. Simple passes not finding their man, getting caught in possession, players starting to get stroppy.

Wouldn't be surprised if Wilshere kicks someone in the face.

  • Registered Users Posts: 607 ✭✭✭Pete Moss

Brighton should be up 4 or 5 now. Atrocious from arsenal

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I think Wenger would have saved that header. Another 1-2 killer blow by a goalie & Mustafi who was defending it like a giant swan was about to land on him

    Delighted for Chris Houghton,
Keep it up in the second half and score another four at will

It's amazing to see these players not playing for their manager. They literally don't care once they're paid, it's all good.

I support Liverpool so i won't pretend to be sad about this. I love the way Arsenal, as a huge club, are handicapping themselves like this.

    Flatters Arsenal that.

Izquierdo should've squared that last chance and it wasn't offside. Would've been a tap in for 3-0.

Still can't say I'd fancy Arsenal.

That away dressing room must be a strange place now, they know they were ****, they know they could win it, but do they really want to?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,507 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

I can never understand how any criticism of Mustafi is countered by "sure he's a world cup winner".

Wenger is a multiple-time Premier League winner, doesn't mean he's fit for purpose these days.

Besides he was only called up as a replacement in the World Cup for Reus, came on in two games, got injured in their round-16 match vs Algeria and subsequently missed the rest of the tournament.

Jonathan Benteke has 1 Premier League appearance where he came on for the final 6 minutes, replacing Christian.

A yellow for Stephens just as shocking.

How the hell is that a yellow for Stephens? Won the ball clearly.

And no booking for Xhaka dive.

He can see he's there, he puts the shoulder in more than he needs to.

I think that's reckless and a yellow probably, but I'm not sure.

Am I alone here in thinking the ref was right there.

Collision was accidental and Schelotto came out of it the worst.

Not every incident in the sport is a foul or warrants a card.

Do people want football to turn into basketball?
