    Hi Folks,

Im competing in the Gael Force run next week in westport and have done limited training. A few 15k runs accompanied by 15-20k cycles. Im fairly fit so will make it through Ok, but will likely find it very challenging in the latter stages, and obviously will be floored by the time i make it over the line.

Im just looking for some recommendations around pre / post activities and foods, drinks, muscle creams etc etc....

    Any recommendations much appreciated.

    Dave

+1 to what Woody said. Hydrate well in the days before the race, eat on the bike and eat food that you're used to eating - nothing new on the day.

Afterwards, lie down and put your legs up on a wall to let the blood flow back down and if you can, get yourself to some cold water and dunk the legs in for ten minutes, it will help with recovery.

Best of luck with the race.

Eat plenty of carbs brown pasta and rice....
Dont over hydrate as you can drink too much and then your electrolyte levels will drop,
Have all your gear checked bike etc,
Dont beat yourself up if you have an issue during the race dont let it get into your head....Its a long day..
Pace yourself and dont go mad at the start when people are running off full of Adrenalin..
And best of all ENJOY it
