Is this possibly the worst name ever for a national cup competition?

What the hell is a Carabao?

Carabao make an energy drink similar to Redbull, they sponsor ourselves and Reading.

Charltons poll on their Twitter asking the fans who they'd prefer to play....well played!

It's this creature that lives deep in the amazon with the head and body of a massive boa but sports these massive giant raindeer antlers!

Won't give you wings but lets one lucky team get drawn twice. If you lose your first game you have a do over

Back in the 80s it was called The Milk Cup.

That was about the extent of "energy" drinks at the time.

Rumblelows Cup and Zenith Data Trophy spring to mind.

Rumblelows Cup and Zenith Data Trophy spring to mind.

Zenith Data Systems Trophy was not the league cup thought.

It was just a cup created when English teams were banned from Europe between'85 and '92

It'll always be the Coca-Cola Cup.

The ZDS was actually the Full Members Cup

Those not allowed to compete in Europe "qualified" for the Screensport Super Cup

I always liked it as the Worthlessington Cup

Anyway, back in the day we also had the Texaco and Anglo Italians to play for

Full Members Cup also had a season as the Simod Cup, Chelsea were also sponsored by them at the time, unsurprisingly, since it was Ken Bates and Peter Swales brainchild. I had a delightful pair of of Simod trainers that year (they were crap)

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

The Checkatrade Trophy is the prize currently on offer for League 1, league 2 and variety of reserve squads.

Good draw for teams from the East Midlands (my old stomping ground) - assuming Derby get through the second round against Barnsley.

Burton at Man United, Forest at Chelsea and Derby at Spurs. Would be great to see all three of them cause an upset :)

    Pressure game for Klopp IMO
Still hasn't won any trophy and this would be his best chance IMO

Yeah yeah (under pressure me arse), you'll know how much store he puts in this game by the team he sends out.

So if he wins no trophy again this season he shouldn't be feeling any pressure?

Pressure and fired seem to be getting muddled. It's fine if it's acceptable that you think that he doesn't need to win trophies. But I bet not all Liverpool fans feel that way.

Even your very own Phil Bab seems to think he would come under pressure if he doesn't win a trophy this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,200 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I don't think there will be any consequences in not winning a trophy, as long as the season itself is decent - however, I want us to really push to win something this year.

I also actually really like the League Cup. It brings stakes at a time when everything else is still just warming up. The FA cup objectively is a bigger cup, but when that's in full swing, there are always more interesting things going on elsewhere.

Also love seeing the second tier of top club's players fighting for their chance in the first team. Games in the league cup seem more even and competitive as a result. And there's usually some great stories to come out of it for each club, like Woodburn's first Liverpool goal in the quarter final to become 'Pool's youngest ever goalscorer.

I just spotted the line up and it's a strong one.
I'm surprised. Should be a good game to watch.

Hope Leicester put out a decent team too.

Well Dalglish won a cup & got sacked a few months later by the same owners so sorry to question the analysis of one of our own Phil Babb
I think Klopp will be judged on improving in the league (looking very unlikely) & trying to progress to the knockouts in the CL.
Haven't a notion of winning either of those competitions but imo the owners will be looking closer at those two in his job evaluation.
These cups are a bonus if you win them which is why clubs more often than not play weakened teams until the quarters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,012 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Phil Babb well he did give up a testicle for the club so I suppose there is that.

Wijnaldum and the defender both equally confused as to why the ref came to talk with them at the corner :pac:

Over the course of this season i see Barca being delighted they didnt sign Coutinho
I'm sure he will do a killer nutmeg and attempt a long range shot but i really dont see where he would play for them

He is consistent in his inconsistency...if ya get me.
He may suit the Spanish league tho, don't think he would have to work as hard in a Barca team as would have to in a Klopp team.

Well when you beat teams by 3 goals on a off night id agree, but isnt it telling that at Liverpool he has a great game once in ten when in reality hes the centre of the teams play
Imagine at Barca where he has to play well most games
