Cornet extremely careless do go under a player in the air. If that was rugby. It would have been a red card.

F*cking hell I thought Pickford broke his neck there. Collided with his own player Williams. That was scary.

    Edit: Here it is:

0-0 at half-time between Lyon and Everton. An interesting enough game despite the score. Everton have dealt with Lyon's attacks pretty well. Kenny's been Everton's best player for me. I'd like to see Mariano come on for Lyon and give them a bit more of a focal point up top.

1-0 Lyon. Traore gets the goal.

Now he's been subbed for Mariano. Everton heading out as it stands.

    2-0. Aouar scores for Lyon.

Beautiful ball from Marcelo, Mariano can't quite make the most of it but it falls to Depay who plays a lovely pass to Aouar who finishes it well. Really nice goal.

Everton are such a mess. Genuinely believe they could be relegation candidates this season.

And now Schneiderlin sent off to make matters worse.

They've regressed so much. Effectively only lost one player (albeit a very important one), brought in plenty of quality to replace him, (without directly replacing him), and have a good load of kids with potential. They need someone ruthless to kick them up the arse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Depay makes it 3-0. Nice header.

Full-Time and Lyon win it 3-0. It was a deserved win for Lyon and means Everton are knocked out after just four games.

Everton defended pretty well in the first half but didn't offer much going forward and once Lyon opened the scoring there was only going to be one winner. I thought Ndombele did very good for Lyon and Houssem Aouar was impressive when he came on. Both these guys are 20 and 19 respectively, and then there's Lucas Tousart who is just 20. There are some really exciting youngsters in this Lyon team.

Sickener of a result for Nice. They managed to keep it goalless against Lazio until stoppage time and then conceded an O.G. I didn't see the game but apparently it was very poor. Neither side managed a shot on target.

Thankfully, football results don't annoy me anymore. But we're awful.

I wouldn't blame Unsworth as not much he can do with that Squad. His interview after was honest

Everton have been utter drivel under him.

Plus a washed up Ashley Williams playing like a turkey. They have a few players past their sell by date and are missing Coleman too(not saying it cause he's Irish) but the team badly lacks width and Martina or Jonjoe Kenny are no replacements.
Fair play to Atalanta though. Lost Conti, Kessie and Gagliardini the last 2 windows but have kept going and I like to see teams in the Europa League so happy to be there. Makes the competition look more important.

I watched Atalanta vs Lyon earlier. I expected it would be a good game but it was a big disappointment. Both sides knew they were through and Lyon didn't apply themselves very well. Petagna scored a scruffy goal to make the difference. Fekir nearly equalised with a free-kick that hit the post but it was pretty poor overall.

Lyon vs Villarreal will be a great tie. Mariano Diaz and Cedric Bakambu are two strikers that have impressed me a lot this season. Napoli vs Leipzig is another one that should be good fun.

I did like near the end of the draw when Ostersund knew they had just two potential opponents left: Arsenal or Braga. And the camera cuts to one of Ostersund's representatives in the crowd and you could see this guy is obviously desperate to get Arsenal, his chest is heaving up and down he is so excited by this possibility. Sure enough Arsenal's name gets called and the camera cuts back to him at the end and he has the widest grin on his face. I was happy for the guy.

If the Serie A is still as tight as it is now, i can see Napoli giving Leipzig a bye and play reserves.

I gather Thauvin came on as a sub against Braga and minutes later got a goal. 3-0 Marseille now. He's in fantastic form.

Bad news for Nice meanwhile. They were beating Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1 with two Mario Balotelli goals but were reduced to ten men and now the away side lead 3-2.

Plenty of depth in this comp this year.

Napoli putting out a bit of a reserve team this evening.

Atleti seem to be taking it more seriously so you'd have to make them favourites to lift the cup with their recent European pedigree.

    Gonna watch Lyon vs Villarreal.
Lyon XI: Lopes; Rafael, Marcelo, Morel, Marcal; Tousart, Ndombele; B.Traore, Fekir, Aouar; Mariano.

Villarreal XI: Asenjo; Mario Gaspar, Alvaro, Victor Ruiz, Jaume Costa; Trigueros, Rodri, Castillejo; Fornals; Bacca, Cheryshev.

Lot of great young talents in midfield.

  • Registered Users Posts: 870 ✭✭✭FCIM

On paper advantage Dortmund. In my opinion, advantage Atalanta. They had enough chances to score three or four, as did Dortmund, but for every bit the Dortmund supporters are extremely passionate so too are the Atalantini. The one concern I'd have is it won't be played in Bergamo. If it was, I'd make Atalanta a nearly dead cert to go through. Hopefully the Bergamaschi will descend on Reggio Emilia in huge numbers to make the Mapei Stadium every bit as intimidating as the Stadio Atleti Azzurri D'Italia is on big game days. Forza Berghem!!!
