Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

so what. A red card is a red card. Buffon rightly sent off. I don't know why people think he should be given a bye.

Is anyone actually surprised that happened?

It looks less a penalty every time you look at it.

A penaldo for madrid at home? It's always only a matter of time.

Am....Suarez. Barton. Diouf. Neil Warnock. That's just off the top of my head.

I wonder has there ever been any other player that causes so much grown men to suck lemons though?

Don’t know why Ronaldo went so mad celebrating, Harry clearly got a touch on that as it flew into the top corner.

    MADrid game alright

There was about a minute left when the peno was given.

    And fix your keyboard

Ref blew the whistle at 2.23 into injury time. So 37 seconds left.

EDIT. And he blew the whistle 34 seconds after the ko when it was a real kick out. So he could have left it till the kick out was taken to blow it and he'd have been about 10 seconds minimum over the 37 seconds, but he didn't bother waiting.

I don't care who you are, there must have been some pressure on that kick and yet he buried it. Fair play to him.

? that’s just exactly what i did. it was a response to another person

    Be likeable?

I like him. So your point is invalid

I say the draw for the semis has already been decided for friday. Madrid vs Roma and Lfc vs Bayern is what i reckon they have decided.

Thats bull, he surprisingly tried to control the ball before a shot, there was nothing approaching a dive there. Tried to control the ball and the defender came through the back of him, freekick anywhere on the field.

in fairness, absolutely loads of them. Tonnes of genuinely rubbish human beings have played. Niall Ranger, Joey Barton, Diouf etc etc.

Ronaldo is arrogant, that's about it. And if anyone has ever earned that arrogance, it's him, through probably the best work ethic in football. He's still at the top at 33 years old, in the best shape of any footballer out there. That happens through sheer effort.

plain and simple,Messi wouldn’t have taken it and if he did he would have missed

    Hail CR7
I think you missed a spot on Ronnie’s left arse cheek.
You know you can praise Ronaldo without needing to stupidly taking a ridiculous shot at a great player?

Ronaldo going around as if he is some sort of hero. He scored from 12 yards after his team got hammered for the whole game. That's him all over tho. All about the show.

Ah now credit where it's due. He had a quiet game but he delivered when it really mattered. His arrogance can be distasteful but he's some player.

And then there is Messi, such a humble man despite his genius. He'd nearly kick the ball wide in the interest of fair play. I really hope Argentina win the World Cup this year for him alone.

Ronaldo did not dive to win a penalty, he just stepped up to take one under huge pressure. Dunno what all the hate is towards him for what happened.

Can he stop diving? Diving is cheating.

Juventus blew it by not keeping playing. They accepted being back in it and fell back defending. They had Real on the rack and tried to hold until extra time. It was a stonewall penalty. I feel sorry for Buffon, it would be hard to keep emotions in that situation as much as he probably had to go.

The trophy is pretty open really, no team is secure defensively.

To be fair that was some header from Ronaldo to setup the chance, the height he jumped and put it on a plate for his team mate to win the penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,037 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

I thought it was a pen myself. He went through the back of him and got none of the ball. It was unreal clumsy.

Wtf has respect Buffon got to with following the rules of the game

Never mind the cheats, racists, thieving Russian ogliarchs, human rights violators, rapists et al, when one of the greatest players of all time is guilty of loving himself a bit too much

Real would suit Liverpool as they like to go forward, Bayern would probably beat Liverpool 5-2 on penalties after 220 minutes of boring 0-0 football.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,050 ✭✭✭✭The Talking Bread

I love Messi but he rightly is getting some stick for his poor showing yesterday. Messi was also missing in both legs when barca were knocked out by juve last season so he's proves he's human sometimes lol As for Ronaldo...I cannot think of another player that consistently delivers on the big stages.
