    A wonderful place to swim and run, the Wicklow Aquathlon Series kicks off again next Wednesday evening. They can be great fun depending on the tide, which can make for a super fast short swim, or a long grindfest into the current. It seems in the lap of the gods as to what will transpire each time, but always a solid test of fitness on the two lap run. The only thing lacking is waiter service afterwards as its practically a three course meal on offer. Great value at €15 a pop :D

    You can sign up on the Triathlon Ireland website ahead of time or you can sign up on the night. Please note: You will need a valid Triathlon Ireland race license to participate. You can purchase a One Day License online or on the night.

    I thought they vary the direction of the swim depending on the current?

    The direction of the swim will depend on the direction of the current on the day of the race and will be announced at the race briefing before the race

    True, but we sometimes get lucky;) and the flow changes just before the off- happened last one I did and it made for a race to suit the swimmers!
