Yes, you'd have thought that Jervis would have preferred her to actually show inside the stores and highlight some key pieces...maybe they didn't pay enough for that *eye roll*
She's even getting lazy with her paid stuff

  • Registered Users Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

She also barely showed the outfit she got from CarrigDonn for the birthday. A quick run through in her bathroom mirror where you couldnt even see it well or the whole dress, and then a couple of snaps and a picture on instagram. Why any company continues to give her time and money is beyond me.

Compared to how the beautiful truth showcases her stuff from carraig donn. Talks about the fit, and always shows the dresses off and talks through what she got. Have to say I'd never go into carraig donn and to be fair, TBT did a much better job of showcasing their stuff.

It's still there, theres just new snaps between that obviously didn't upload while she was in Jervis. Good shops, but crappy wifi so it seems :D

I don't see any new snaps? Just the 2 shop fronts and the one for some competition! Oh and the empty wallet!!

There's a 21 years open snap and win everything in the box snap that appeared afterwards in my snaps, and now they are both before the wallet one .

Ya that's the ones I was saying were the competition ones! I thought you meant there was more showing stuff from inside the shops!!

Why do companies still collaborate with her? They get a rubbish service for whatever they've paid.
I lost any belief in her content when the C&G stuff happened, then the disaster of the parenting group, where she never offered anyone support, just looked for followers then said she was being bullied on Facebook by groups and refused to state which groups she was accusing of bullying in a Sunday newspaper.
I'm like Lexie, if I notice she's associated with a brand, I'll buy an alternative, sadly I did move my business from the bib company after seeing the haul they sent her for nothing, same with Name it, at least her pic is on the front of the shop, easy to see.

Just saw post on the Galz page about the Penneys Skin School that a few bloggers were snapping about today. People not impressed that skin nerd is suddenly promoting a cheap skin care range when up to now it's always been cosmeceuticals are best. People saying that because it's #ad that suddenly she's promoting them.

Have to say I bought a cleanse off mitt a while back and it was absolutely terrible can't understand how people can use it just with water I use it as a glorified face cloth now with product.

And I jumped on the image bandwagon because she promoted it so much and lots of people seemed to be using it (I do like all the image products I use thought and have rebought most)

It's meant to be used as part of double cleansing, you'd use it with water to take off your make up and then use a cleanser on its own to clean your skin.

Wow that's unreal from the skin nerd. How she can go from Image skin care products to Penny's is bizarre. Obviously they flashed the cash at her... Penny's stuff stings and burns like hell! These people are unbelievable when it comes to selling their soul for a big company.

The age old saying. ‘Money talks and bulls**t walks!’

The fact she regularly talks at these blogger workshops, bloggers who work with Penneys, it was bound to happen. Its like cross contamination.
I've used the face masks from there and they were fine for me but never used any of these new ranges they have, I dont think I'd be getting my entire skin care range from there, I'm 37 and have to look after my skin

Oh god the whole breastfeeding saga. It got her so much publicity though so she was delighted with herself.
It was all her own doing too, I was at home with a newborn and saw the whole thing unfold and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Its when I really went off her. I have no time for people who take no responsibility. You mess up, own it, don't blame everyone else.

That's what I mean all the videos etc showing how to use it with just water when I tried that it was not happening my face would have been red raw from all the rubbing and pulling on my skin I'd have to do to get the makeup off. I always use a hot cloth with my balm / oil cleanser so have just added the mitt to my pile of cloths really didn't think it was good at all maybe if people have really hardy skin it's fine

Disgusted to see her collab with pennies. Complete sell out.
That said, I use a microfibre cloth (not hers, just a regular one) to do my initial pre cleanse. I'd have sensitive skin prone to redness and my skin is absolutely fine with it.

I've followed the skin nerd for ages and always really liked her but as others have said I'm surprised she did that skin workshop with Penneys. She has always promoted high quality skin care with good ingredients and talks in depth about these products and what the ingredients actually do. She's also said she only promotes a brand after receiving training from them and trying them out for a while. How can she stand by Penneys skin care with the same level of integrity? They must have offered her a lot of dosh.

I think I remember her doing a thing with Penneys previously, earlier in the year maybe. It could have been a facebook live or something. I haven't watched it.

Out of all the bloggers/snapchatters I follow she was one of my favourites and must say I am so surprised at her and really put off by it. I had intended to sign up to her consultation clinic after Christmas and really thinking twice about it now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

I wonder has anyone been in contact with her to ask her opinions on the quality of Penney's skincare product versus say Image who she has previously been a huge advocate of. It seems a very very strange U turn to make so I'd love to hear her address it. Even if she says the Penney's products are fine, they are cheaper for a reason surely?

  • Registered Users Posts: 436 ✭✭wendydoll

Maybe the penneys skincare range is good. I just wouldn't be washing my face in it. It's like the perfume, everyone raging about penneys perfume is like jo malone. No it is not. It's overpowering at first, then it's semi-grand and then there's feck all scent from it.

There's been quite a few on that thread in the galz who snap group who said that it was terrible and burnt their skin after using it!

Really, not really surprising. Granted not everyone is going to have positive reaction but you can pick up proper skincare ranges for €10-20. I'll stick to my La roche posay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

There's no way in hell im putting Penneys skincare anywhere near my skin, no matter how fabulous some blogger says it is. Awful move on her part. She's just diluted her credibility.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 436 ✭✭Ray37

Seriously, she's collabing with Penneys??? Ah now, that's a joke. I would only ever grab their makeup wipes if I was desperate, and they are brutal on your skin!! Shows you wherever the cash is, the integrity isn't.

If she’s trying to promote more affordable skincare, I think The Ordinary would have been a better fit as it’s proper skincare with a more affordable price tag.

Yeah it's really good quality and all about the fact that it's basic ingredients/chemicals without all the fluff which I would have thought was right up her street.

A group of bloggers off to Ibiza with Kevin Murphy hair products don't see any #ad or #sp on any posts so far

  • Registered Users Posts: 439 ✭✭Wexy86

Have to say I’m so disappointed in Jennifer Rock and her brand at her collab. I attended a skincare evening and she was the guest speaker and she must of said it at least 10 times that the only way to get the right skincare is to get a consultation and buy the cosmeceuticals range that was only able from skincare specialist.

Ladies literally queued for 2 hours to get a quick consult and buy the high end Image and Environ products. And then she goes and says a few euro product will do the job, i’d be majorly píssed off if I’d dropped a few hundred based on her recommendation from hearing her speak or from the online consultation she offered.

I highly doubt if I paid for her online consultation she’d be recommending I pop into penneys for my skincare requirements

I don't think any of the people I follow are on that. But what has sending bloggers off on a free holiday got to do with hair products? Unless they are going to demonstrate how to use the products to look after your hair in the pool or sun? Which is pretty much pointless seeing as the summer is over! Why not send them somewhere cold and wet to show how you can use the products over the coming 6 months (as I type this beside the radiator looking out at the lashing rain!)

To me it just looks like a massive piss up. They were all on the sauce all day yesterday on what was meant to be a work trip. I'm not sure if it's the kind of promotion I'd want if it was my brand. It doesdnt reflect well, imo.

Sorry but this trip takes the biscuit for me in terms of ‘press trip’. Like what does Ibiza got to do with haircare? Maybe I’m missing something but it just seems like an excuse for a holiday

So Grace is at the cups for cancer coffee morning. She has #ad on the snaps.

I know we had this with the cherrios childline last year, I just think its so bad to have to be paid to attend a charity event.
Now, I understand the panel (Pippa etc) and the MC (Doireann) getting paid as they are providing a service and their skills etc. But Grace and the others are being paid to just attend and sit there.
    Pippa had no #ad up.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

My sister used to work for a childrens charity and they never used celebs who asked for payment for their events. Plenty were willing to give up their time for free or without publicity, especially GAA and Irish sports stars.
The MC's I can sort of justify as there would be a certain amount of work involved but to just show up and snap a bit...nope. Its not justifiable in my opinion

Ya seriously it's just 6 girls getting bananas in a villa I don't know what it has to do with the hair products so far aside from the fact the hair products were in the bathroom when they arrived.

Not to be a kill joy or anything but it looks like the kind of girls holiday you wouldn't really be broadcasting on your Snapchat when they opened the fridge all that was in it was drink and they had guys there showing them how to make cocktails later didn't see anything hair related. I'd say they have loads of young followers I think it's pretty irresponsible of a brand to set this up and have teens who look up to them thinking that's how they should act on their nights out.

Also they seem to be trying to outdo each other to see who is the wildest

Sorry but it's actually gross that Grace took money for going to that Breast Cancer charity event and taking a few snaps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭groovyg

Charities are businesses and like all businesses they have to pay for things. There seems to be this idea out there that if something is for charity its for free its not. So if there are asking influencers to come along - then they pay them simples.

Not sure if anyone actually looked into this but the event was to launch a partnership between Centra and The Irish Cancer Society. Centra will obviously have been the ones paying for the event/people to attend. And while I agree its a shame money has had to exchange hands, every charity organisation will have a marketing budget and whether Grace took the money or not, it would remain in that budget and not be donated elsewhere.

  • Registered Users Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

I see the point about it being a co run event between Centra and the ICS, and also about charities being businesses but my point still stands. Celebs and these people could give up their time for free to give causes a bit of publicity, like I said my sister used to work for a rather big one and celebs would regularly do it free so it's not a prerequisite to get paid (especially if it's one that it close to their hearts). The money can therefore be used in other campaigns badly needed for fundraising.
Putting up #ad or #sp just ads it to all the other crap they promote in exchange for money and makes it look as disingenuous as everything else they do.

I agree. FBG went to a Cheerios Childline event a while ago, but before the event said she was going to a Barnardos event.

Looked disingenuous to not remember the name of the charity before you go to it.

Sorry, I think accepting payment from a charity is disgusting, unless your job is with that charity. My God like, if I was in the position to be offered money to attend a charity event, I'd tell them to just donate it and go anyway. I think accepting payment from a charity is so low, that's my opinion and I've always thought this way. It's a horrible thing to do, of course charities have marketing budgets etc, but surely if you are a sound enough person you'd go along for free?

Definitely agree ray, accepting money from a charity that are cleary trying to raise funds does not sit with me. Especially in graces case ad she was only recently raising money for a cancer charity that was there for her dad when he was ill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

Surely any decent person would decline the fee and insist it goes to the cause? It's not like she was even participating in anything she was literally just sitting there holding her phone. If it was me in her position and I was asked, I'd be mortified to even be offered payment nevermind take it. It's all take take take with most of these people. Using your platform to raise awareness for an hour for something as important as this should be something you're proud and willing to do sans payment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 436 ✭✭Ray37

Like the very idea of charity is doing something that isnt for YOURSELF. I'm not attacking just bloggers either like, celebs who do it are a joke too. God, it turns my stomach that people actually accept money from charities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

It's like the time they were all snapping asking us to donate to childline, meanwhile they're taking money from childline in payment for the ad.
