Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And it'll be 20%/30% off BTs in the next month in the sales so it'll be CHEAPER to buy a brand new bag from BTs :o

Banning them, as opposed to the ASAI who just go, now you won't do that again will you? grand sure off you pop to the repeat offenders here

The ASA in England is largely the same as the ASAI here. They are self-regulatory bodies funding by the advertising industry, which aim to promote good practice in the advertising industry.
The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland is the independent self-regulatory body set up and financed by the advertising industry and committed, in the public interest, to promoting the highest standards of marketing communications, that is, advertising, promotional marketing and direct marketing.

Self-Regulation means the adoption by the advertising industry of standards drawn up by and on behalf of all advertising interests. It involves the enforcement of those standards through the commitment and cooperation of advertisers, agencies and media.

The objective is to ensure that all commercial marketing communications are ‘legal, decent, honest and truthful’. The rules are set out in the Code of Standards for Advertising and Marketing Communications in Ireland (7th Edition), drawn up by the Board of ASAI following detailed consultation with all relevant interests including the public, advertisers, agencies and media, consumer representatives and Government Departments.

The strength of the self-regulatory system lies in the support and commitment of the advertising industry – advertisers, advertising agencies, media specialists, direct marketing companies, sales promotion consultants and the various media – print, radio, television, online, cinema and outdoor interests.

Members of ASAI are required to abide by the Code and not to publish an advertisement or conduct a promotion which contravenes Code rules.

They have no legislative power themselves, but the ASA in England can refer offenders to the Trading Standards Authority.

MUF is selling a white Michael Kors bag on depop for “half price”. 299 isn’t half of 499 but anyway.
I don’t recall those bags ever being 499. I don’t have the hamilton one but I have 5 other MK bags and none cost more than 350.

She has changed the prices it's now bought for around 400 and selling for 199!

“Around” meaning 325 like most of the Hamiltons on the website are. But at least that’s more realistic, can’t believe she lied about it. And used one stock photo, not even one of the actual bag. It’s white though, gak.

I actually can believe she lied.

I've noticed in the last couple of days certain beauty bloggers falling over themselves to promote Maybelline. I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming all expenses trip to meet Gigi Hadid. I think these trips and gifts should have to be declared with a # as well but that's probably too transparent.

Can someone tell me if James Kavanagh is purposely NOT putting #ad or #spon on some of his posts?

He tends to go off on a tangent about a company from time to time or a service and it's quite clear it's a paid advertisement.

Last week he was harping on for about 40 Snaps about a coffee machine. It was obvious it was an ad but there was no #ad or #spon.
And if he is avoiding putting that up, why the hell is he not being investigated?

Is that what's going on with Maybelline?! I seen Chloe Boucher talking about all the Maybelline stuff she bought the other day. That would explain it....

I could be wrong but I don't think he has to #ad it because he got the machine for free, he wasn't paid.

I actually googled the machine and it sells for over 2000  There definitely should be some sort of limit on the value of things they get for free before it's considered payment in kind and they have to #ad it.

Why did Marissa Carter bother sending out all her advent calenders to bloggers? I thought she wasn't "into" them anymore? Also I saw on her snaps today there was a big mix up and she doesn't even have any to sell, apart for the 10 she sent out to each pharmacy.... Wonder is she just trying to stir up interest and then there will be loads flooding the market?

I thought as soon as she mentioned the “crisis” that it was to drum up interest. If every pharmacy only got 10 I must keep an eye out to see if they’re selling. Are people still into Cocoa Brown?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭Sunny Dayz

Did she really send a load out to bloggers after everything she said earlier this year?! I recall The Beautiful Truth mention it I think today but I know she does actually use CB, think it’s the instant one she likes.

Yeah Chloe Bloucher got sent one. She showed it all off, then went on to talk about 3 other tanning brands and what they sent her straight after. She then went onto say that she was getting so many questions about what tans she actually wears, and gave a vague answer and directed people to her YouTube video’s to find out .......

So surprised that bloggers got them! I know the media journalists such as Aisling Keenan got one so didn’t think she would send to bloggers .

Just checked and they are gone 😡

She defiantly put on a pity party in her snaps yesterday about it all. Wonder was it just to flog them so!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭idunno78

I'd say so. The products are all Ines they have usually so if they were really that stuck they could do something else with them! I'd say just to cause a bit of a 'want' for them!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,980 ✭✭✭wyrn

the Whitemoose cafe got sent the advent calendar, maybe she's moving away from the usual tan crowd?

Agreed. I find it can be hard to get sometimes though.

Why bother lie just put up ad it’s not that big of a deal! It’s your job to do these thing so just do it right!!

I'm trying to make sense of it. Maybe she just used #sp unnecessarily on Instagram. She made it clear on Snapchat that it wasn't an ad. :/

  • Registered Users Posts: 104 ✭✭forumuser

I wondered if maybe the snapchat content was free but the pic on Instagram was paid for? Otherwise why make such a big deal of saying this is not an ad the whole way through the Snapchat video? It's a strange one.

That's what I was thinking. But surely if she was her mate she shouldn't be charging for either. I remember Sue saying she was her friend as well when she went there.

Sometimes they put up the #sp to cover themselves. That image is permanent, Snapchat disappears after 24 hours. Maybe she doesn't want to deal with the hassle of months of "why isn't that sponsored!" Comments and it's just easier to #sp because she's "advertising" in it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

Yea I'd say it was more of a paid for Instagram post but she decided to Snapchat it too "cos they're friends" or whatevs. I know sometimes you can be sponsored for one platform but not every platform. So if she chose to Snapchat it and it wasn't included in the payment maybe that's what she was on about?

I see that Terrie McEvoy is peddling that dermaplump stuff. That's the same owner that owns miss fit skinny tea.

The tea owner must have realised people wouldn't buy into the product if she released it under the same branding.

The product looks really bad!! Wonder who else will pop up with a sp post about it! Terrie seems to push everything thats thrown her way. Wouldn't trust her.

What's the story with Happy Food Co? They're literally popping up everywhere on people's snaps!

I haven't seen them on anything but we get them sometimes in work. Their food is grand but their chips, despite their yoga studio, are fantastic

Does is bother anyone else when bloggers describe something as unreal, amazing or "insane".

Like #ad or #sp candles, fragrances, creams.

    WTF does "insane" smell like?

Probably the same as luxurious, we keep being told that's what Sue's perfume smells like
