Shadow of Mordor for €19.99? Hmm....

Not all discounts show up straight away due to the load on the system. Give it an hour or two.

Final Fantasy games are only 50% off, disappointing. :(

I just took a quick peek - assuming it hasn't recovered from the masses checking the sales yet, as it's giving me the full normal price for almost everything on the home screen :P

It's funny, it took me a few tries for it to click but when it did I loved it.

Make sure to download the official combat rebalance.

I think it buggers up the game a bit if you start the game, install the mod and then go back to the game so make sure to install it before you start.

That changed how I looked at the game. The combat went from a chore to being worthwhile.

Nothing much i'd be bothered with so far. Will try again later.

I feel sorry for poeple who only got into pc gaming the last couple of years. The sale hasn't been good since like 2013.

    It's all about the story.
The overall arc isn't maybe that brilliant but the individual quests are top quality. Looks great, wonderful characters.

The combat used to get in the way.
    Now it's an accompaniment.

    No way, don't get that.

It just changes priorities and affinity in task manager.
You can do that yourself for free.

A few things i'll probably pick up. Baldurs Gate Enhanced series, for the ease of having it on Steam. Final Fantasy X, Walking Dead 3, and maybe Everspace.

Valve Complete Bundle is 91% off at €17.17. Anyone know how playable the Half Life games are on Windows 10?

Fine I have been playing HL1/2 and the mod that i cant remember the name off.

Odd tho the loading screens are not quicker, I assumed they would be.

For anyone tempted by Mad Max at €7.99, it's €5 on Bundle Stars. Use the code red5 to get another 5% off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,067 ✭✭✭Gunmonkey

Grabbed Doom so far, €15 is too low a price to pass on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,995 ✭✭✭Sofiztikated

Stuck on a stupid card drop thing.

View Friends Activity page. I've gone into everything I can see, and no drop.

Yeah, it's not well explained, you have to do your discovery queue twice to get the second card drop.

Yeah, did that too. Says I've one drop remaining, which is the view friend activity.

Not seeing much that I want to get. Maybe the REmaster for nostalgia sake.

Not sure weather it was steam being derpy earlier or it was my mistake but the season pass is actually €16.74 not €12.50,which is not as low as i had hoped.

Bought it anyway. Not much else grabbed my attention so that might be all my business done early this sale. Unless a hidden gem pops.

What is this sticker thing? When did the playerbase morph into pumpkin latte 15 years olds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,460 ✭✭✭Ivefoundgod

Pretty underwhelmed with it though I don't know if thats just cos i've become fairly apathetic to most games these days. Last game I really enjoyed was Horizon Zero Dawn. I've only recently got a capable gaming machine, is there any old games for cheap that anyone recommends? I've got the machine about 6 weeks and so far my game time has been dominated by Civ 5, Cities: Skylines, Hitman and a bit of GTA 5.

I've got €40 on my steam wallet so I'll have to spend it on something :D

Thinking of Dishonored 2 though I briefly played the first one and didn't think much of it, only for a few hours though so that could be why. Also looking at Virginia and maybe Asetto Corsa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 876 ✭✭✭bigphil2

put ,owlboy, hollow knight and aragami down so far.

they were on my wantlist anyway so its good to save a few quid,
Whats the deal with the stickers? someone mentioned you can sell them?

Sorry now but im only back to steam after a 10 hiatus so ive no idea.

Will there be new discounts this evening or is it pretty much just the same deals for the week now?

Think that's it. Steam sales have really lost their sense of occasion over the last few years, they're no more impressive than a Humble or GoG sale these day.

Same deals all week. Some publishers may give further discounts, but no guarantees.

Day 1 is disappointing but I did get Portal 2 for 2 quid so can't go wrong there :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,844 ✭✭✭Glebee

games can be got cheaper on other key sites these days that the steam sale unfortunatly really ihas become a a bit of a non event for me.. I cant recall teh last time I purchased direct from steam.. remember the good old days when you had to check steam at various times of the day (even in the middle of the night) when the new deals dropped..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,583 ✭✭✭EoinHef

The competition wasnt there for steam in the past,it is now. I dont think steam sales have got worse, the competition has just got better.

Also id much rather the refund system than daily deals that i have to check every 12 hours and have a chance of missing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

The only thing I bought is 8-bit armies and I'm not even sure why as I've no idea when I'll even get a chance to play it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭scamalert

steam is a bit of a joke as described given competition, bought yesterday prison architect < not sure why even bothered game is a bit eye strain for 6e, since normal price is close to 30 which is a joke, but looked on likes of cdkeys.com and most games all year round can be gotten for original price since steam seems to take at least 30% cut , where on likes of cd keys game is for 5ver and many simillar ones, only exception is popular games or new releases.
