    Someone killed Gunstar Heroes, Rocket Knight Adventures and Revenge of Shinobi. I just wanted to know what it was like to take a dump all over someone else's childhood :D

    I hear you barking dawg. I KNOW objectively it was an amazing game but I found it too hard and not nearly as enjoyable as the other 2 admiddetly shallower games it came with on the Megadrive Games compilation a cartridge (Golden Axe and Streets of Rage I)

    Poll added. Results revealed in 5 days.

    Two worthy titles that show the strength of the Megadrive. Probotector is a far better game than Contra 3 on the SNES and Shining in the Darkness is a more traditional western style dungeon crawler with gorgeously animated and huge sprites that the SNES would have struggled to reproduce. Both have excellent FM synth soundtracks as well.

    What's next? Dreamcast, Gamecube, NES?

    The Wii had f**k all "classic" games, loads of gimmicks, a handful of 1st party stuff and that was it.

    Can't agree any less. WiiU is a bit like the neo geo pocket. It had a small library but a large amount of that library were absolute classics. Stuff like zelda, xenoblade, super Mario 3d world, bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, tropical freeze etc are as good as if not better than anything on the PS4.

    Got to disagree with the Wii as well. Loaf's of cap on there but the library is full of absolute classic. Quite a lot of hidden gems in there as well. It's a very under rated system with a lot of undue bile thrown its way because of the amount of shovel ware on it but if a system is to be judged on shovel ware then the DS and PS2 are even worse in that regard.

    There's loads of brilliant and interesting games on Wii. Just a lot of it went under people's noses due to the media ignoring anything but first party titles on it. Currently writing something up at the moment that will highlight a lot if those games.

    I wouldn't rank Wii or WiiU as the best consoles ever and both were mostly great as a secondary console but they are far from awful.

    Saying that the problem with a Wii list is it will be full of shovel ware if you go by sales a if you pick the good stuff people won't know the games.

    It really was the "master of none".... still though, Wii Sports (and Resort) will always be iconic for what they were and the 3am throwdowns in Bowling and Tennis

    I wouldn't say that. It was the last home of quirky Japanese B-tier games that didn't have any place in a world of triple A games that were polished and boring on the other consoles (until the arse fell out of the Wii market). Still think there's a lot of brilliant games on it and I'd rank the console far higher than other much loved systems like the N64. Stuff like Mario Galaxy, Xenoblade, DKCR etc. were far better than anything on any other console at the time in their respective genres and it had stuff like Rhythm Fever, Opoona, Boom blox etc. that were experiences you just couldn't get elsewhere.

    I just feel there's a lot of unwarranted ill will towards the console as it was fashionable to hate Nintendo at the time and it didn't help that the system was ignored by the mainstream press.

    I don't think it has to be platform specific.

    We could do genres or main characters etc

    FPS,

    Congrats to Probotector/Contra Hard Corp. Definitely my favourite of all the Contra games and way better than Contra 3!

    Still it's no gunstar heroes which went out far too early :'(

    I have a soft spot for Shining in the Darkness. It's a brilliant take on the Wizardry formula which removes a lot of the bull**** from that game yet keeps it hardcore enough to not be neutered (bring graph paper!). Looks gorgeous as well and it introduced the Camelot menu system that would be used in all their games, including Golden Sun and the Mario Golf games.
