A proper respirator. Dust mask no good.

Have as little skin exposed while spraying and do it on as calm a day as possible.

Most weedkillers act on a cellular level and don't differentiate between animal and plant cells. Be careful.

Roundup is probably the least toxic of the commonly available weedkillers.

In addition to covering up properly, you will reduce the risk of inhalation and skin contact if you adjust your sprayer to spray with droplets rather than a very fine mist that becomes airborne.
