I was unaware of that link from the IT.

But to generalise is a bit OTT imho. Sure the figures indicate that Brazilians are the largest number of refusals, but 483 out of a population of 207 million is miniscule. Compared to Albania where the article states 408 (out of a population of less than 3 million according to google ) is not really giving an accurate picture.

Miniscule for Brazil, not for workload in DUB.

Agreed Stephen, but I just think it's wrong to generalise.

This is the wrong thread to have this debate but the point I made was that certain (apparent) improvements in access have side affects. When ET started operating there issues which led to a change in visa rules within weeks. There continue to be issues with South Africans on all routes and ask the airlines what is necessary to address the challenges. Last year, Schengen relaxed the rules on georgians and we saw an immediate spike in those cases, again the visa rules were changed but the challenge remained as Georgians changed tactics. Ask LH about what had to be done earlier this year - some on here were unfortunately caught up in it (extra document checks etc).

We have a legally entered Brazilian population where many overstay. They are not the only ones who do it of course. I’ve had many a chat with Brazilians in the airport in work and also outside of it. It was known in the community for a long time when we were in T1 and AGS in T2 that you were better off booking Aer Lingus.

Italy and Portugal give out residency and citizsenship to a lot of Brazilians based on dubious connections to the land of their forefathers.

Back to the point, greater connectivity to Brazil will generate more refusals and frankly sob stories. That is not a generalization, it’s a fact.

(...)on Wednesday at a lunchtime event where Aer Lingus announce their two latest trans-Atlantic routes. Stephen Kavanagh will announce the services to iPittsburgh and Montreal, bringing to 22 the number of trans-Atlantic destinations served directly from Dublin, 15 of them by Aer Lingus. Travel Extra remembers when there were just three, and they were via a compulsory Shannon stopover (...)

So Pittsburgh and Montreal are confirmed? Or Travelextra could be wrong and it is just assuming? Also no mention of any new European routes at all. Maybe this isn't happening?

If true then that’s the second IAG airline to announce a transatlantic rout to PIT.

Wow that’s very ambitious! Here was me thinking it’d be some kind of 6x weekly E190 route with TAP Express. Good luck to them.

Good news, I thought it was strange that TAP didn't offer any routes to/from Dublin before.

    Adria as well I think.

Since EI dropped WAW, there's definitely a market for LOT to resume flights to Dublin. The also have a good range of connections to Eastern Europe and Asia.

Cant see the need for BWI when they operate to PHL and IAD already.
Montreal and Minneapolis both start with 'M' which was the hint from before.

BWI was an error on my part, have a feeling a potential other route (DEN) will be added soon if they confirm A330s.

More less just AZ, hard to see them back.

Can't see CSA ever coming back, LOT is likely IMO.

    Yep, all but confirmed.

Still wouldn’t take Travel Extra as gospel though, the lack of frequencies, start dates or even aircraft type is very telling of where they got that information from.

Especially since they claimed it was YUL and PIT last week

Remember Seattle was announced as a surprise additional 2018 destination after they announced Philadelphia months earlier. Is there room for another 2019 US route announcement or is it expected any additional aircraft capacity to accommodate an extra route will not be available until 2020?

Minneapolis may not sound like the most exciting destination but it does mean along with AA"s launch to Dallas, you can from next year, fly direct to 18 destinatios across 15 US states. A major improvement of choice compared to even 3 years ago. It's win win for the Irish flying public! (....Just don't mention Vegas..:-)!!)

Maybe using that 321 on an AGP or FAO sector first.
