    Hi,

I have been offered a great new job where I will have a company car. They have sent me out forms asking have I any convictions in this country or anywhere else. I lived in Australia for years and when I was first over there I lost my licence for drink driving for 2 years. I was young & stupid. I have no convictions here at all. If I lied would they find out or how would they go about finding out? I feel like I should be truthful but I'm afraid they will terminate the offer :(

I would suggest having a chat with a solicitor and seeing what they say, from my limited knowledge after 7 years you don't have to declare it,bit more info below, don't lie op, leave that to solicitors:D

Unless they've given you a time frame i.e. have you had any convictions in the last 5 years, then I would suggest that you need to be honest and upfront about it.

If you were caught lying/withholding that kind of information you would end up a world of trouble.

Hey guys yea I think I'm just going to tell the truth and not have it hang over me. The DD was 4 years ago in Australia. Can they just take back the job offer? :(

Can the offence be found on Google, was it reported on any local papers over there? If it's in the media they will likely find it as most now have seperate companies running these checks, if it is in the media it will almost certainly be found and you will 100% not get the job if it is found and you havn't declared it.

Tell the truth OP. Getting a job and car and insurance by deception is all sorts of wrong.
