ffs will someone please explain the whole 3 gigs a year in Croke Park thing too him and persuade him to play elsewhere in Ireland. gigs in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Belfast

    PTH2009 wrote: »
it's not possible and it's a law and the govener of Dublin can't do anything about it (don't think he u understands Irish authority powers either).

Unless they work something out and he actually comes here in 2018. he's taking some time off in 2018

    it's not "a law".
there can be more than 3 gigs at Croker each year, and have been in the past. indeed if Brooks had stuck to his initial 3 gigs, that would have been 6 as One Direction played there 3 times that summer.
    so it's entirely possible.

there can be 20 gigs there if the residents/council/Croke Park so wish.

But you know what PT is saying .... do you think the residents will agree to anything over the agreed amount. Highly doubt it .... so no, there won't be "20" gigs in one year

probably not, but there can be more than 3 gigs a year, and it's not a law.

so people regularly repeating the "there can only be 3 gigs a year" thing is completely incorrect.

20 is a stretch alright, but in 2014, they could have had 7 non-gaa events go ahead, the 3 garth ones and the 4 others -this was when the supposed "3 gig max" was very well known too. It was all over the media since 2009 when U2 got 3 gigs in a row after one had already taken place, residents were complaining back then. The dogs on the street knew about it, which only made GB and Aiken look like total and utter pricks taking the public for total idiots.

So another 1 is certainly feasible. The objections are more likely when you have 3 or more in a row, rather than disruption for a day or 2 on different dates..

The CB are dance-pop outfit Clean Bandit, which fits their intended demographic I suppose.

The Killers have announced stadium concerts in Bolton and Swansea next summer.

This raises the possibility of Snow Patrol doing Irish dates this summer too.

Nickelback supported by Seether touring Europe next may/June and surprise surprise no Irish date. They were actually quite good the last time in 2016

I'd say they're a dead cert to play somewhere in Ireland if they are playing elsewhere.

    Longitude headliners?

    Wrong demographic surely.

Think the Coronas crowd, but with a few more miles on the odometer

It's the kind of gig where when they play a new song that the crowd takes the chance to nervously ring the baby sitter

Yea i think Longitude headliners are a good shout for Snow Patrol , Maybe put them on the Sunday for the older crowd( like Mumford , The National etc)

They came on board for 2017. Replaced Canadian/Molson I think which means that the beer hall no longer serves Franciscan Well beers and instead has Heineken's "craft" offerings.

But, on the festival itself, Everything Everything are a solid booking. Can't say the rest does much for me though.
