Aiken are seeking Thursday 17th May as the date.

Ed Sheeran is playing the 16th and 18th in Phoenix Park so they need to avoid those dates.

    interesting day to pick

would the stones play a thursday ??

Yes they would.. the majority of their gigs last year were weekdays. The residents are opposed to a 4th concert however , peter McKenna will be on news at one ( radio) in 5 mins

Can't see them having any issues with a Thursday night gig as along as the cheque is sufficient in size!

Resodents opposition would hardly play a big part once they go along proper planning though?

Given that there is an agreement in place, the Council would have to take the residents views into account.

Actually, regardless of whether there was an agreement in place, proper planning requires the Council to take local views into account in reaching their decision.

Will Interpol play here? They're supporting The Cure and Arctic Monkeys in the UK. I wonder would they support U2? Would love a gig of their own.

Where are they supporting AM? Thought they only announced festival slots?

Seeing as u2 will no doubt sell out there will be no need for a band like Interpol to support. As with ticket prices for u2, it seems as if they like it too much

They had nobody at all supporting last time, just an extra long set

Just got an email from Croke Park (as a resident) that Aiken Promotions are applying for a concert in May. Who could this be?

Is it too hopeful to guess it might be the Foo Fighters? Although their first European date isn't until June 1st they do have a gap in their schedule in the middle of May.

No chance 60k attended Slane with reasonable support and pop of Christmas market, promoter was MCD too.

Dare I mention the previously banished Garth Brooks for fear of being stoned :) can't see him settling for 1 night though!

    Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday?

Meant to be the only event in May as well. So four isn't all that much.

Potential for referendum on 25th so may rule out that date
I hate to see a waste of taxpayers money, but if it takes a referendum to ban entry of that cringeworthy money hungry cnut so be it! I will never forget the "Sophie's choice" and "dead mother" tactics, utterly vile piece of work.

Complete guess - Paul Simon RDS in July, would be a big venue for him he's played there before and he's doing a fairwell tour.

It's to do with the 4th Croke Park gig as far as I know.

The notice in the media/application for the 4th Croke Park gig was only done today - surely they can't have it approved in that space of time?

Plus, they would surely use Croke Park for the media briefing rather than the RDS if it was a Croke Park announcement?

Good call I'd say as he was announced for Hyde park next summer this week with James Taylor , i remember Aiken brought both those acts to nowlan park a good few years ago
