I saw him in Slane in 2000, he was the headline act. Wonder what Slane would make of him now.

I'd say he'd definitely get a job pulling pints or scanning tickets.

In fairness he put on a great show in 2016 in Dublin but he played Cork in 2014/2017 and Dublin/Belfast 2016. It will prob sell well as he has a big following (middle aged women is his main demographic)

And in Slane it was marketed as a Triple Headliner...

That was back in the day when support acts were actually pretty decent and not the cheapest crap the promoter can find.

That is just 1 poster, I do not recall it ever being suggested or described as a triple headliner at the time. And think you would struggle to find anything claiming it was.

These lists seem pretty random, of course zero doubt that Adams was the main headline

August 26, 2000: Bryan Adams brought his exceptional tour to Slane Castle and rocked a two hour set like it was the summer of ’69.

He was supported by the following acts:
    Macy Gray
    Muse
    Eagle-Eye Cherry
    Dara
    Screaming Orphans
    Mel C
    Moby

    Macy Gray
    Muse
    Eagle-Eye Cherry
    Dara
    Screaming Orphans
    Melanie C
    Moby
    Bryan Adams (headliner)

On wiki they do list some "special guests" for some years.
    1998[edit]
    Finlay Quaye
    Junkster
    James
    The Seahorses
    Robbie Williams
    Special Guests Manic Street Preachers

    Stereophonics (headliner)

Bryan Adams is worth $65 Million and has some of the best tunes around (Summer Of 69, Run To you, When Youre Gone) and had one of longest number 1 singles of all time. His popularity went down a bit in the 00's but he has a big fan base still

would i go see him again ??? 50/50 i enjoyed him in 2016 but not worth the effort of travelling too dublin for a similar show /setlist. If he played nearer home like Kilkenny or somewhere than i might go

Yes I am one poster. Good lad. And yes you are using Wikipedia as a source.

No doubt he was on last, but at the time the adverts were very much like the above, with all 3 in similar sized fonts, radio ads were "Moby, Macy, Adams" rather than a man headliner in other years.

Nick Cave supported by Patti Smith playing Kilmainham June 6th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

it says "POD & AEG / Goldenvoice" on the poster.

Have AEG ever promoted concerts here in the past? being a rival to Live Nation/Festival Republic, I wonder if this teaming up with POD means they'll be involved with Forbidden Fruit in RHK too, which is a few days before the Cave/Smith gig.

it might of course just be that AEG are doing Cave's tour and will have little to do with actually running the Irish gig.

Goldenvoice is an AEG company which runs Coachella.

What is Kilmainham like as a venue folks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,090 ✭✭✭julyjane

I was only there once, nothing much wrong with it instead except down where the toilets are got a bit dark and slippy after a time. Very easy to get up near the stage but if you wanted to stay further back there's a few picnic tables near the bars. It was a bit of a walk around to get to the actual gates but nothing like Slane. Other than that it's just a field like any other

With Bruno Mars doing Hyde Park i could see him as one of the headliners for Longitude unless he does his own headline show in Malahide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,209 ✭✭✭maximoose

    Also at Malahide:
    Gorillaz, June 9 2018
Liam Gallagher - oddly no date said

Rumours saying Arctic Monkeys will be back on tour for the summer of 2018. Apparently people are reading into the video Transmit put online where there logo turned into soundwaves (similar to AM's last album cover) .

doubt it, wouldn't get near selling out 80k at Slane if there's plenty of European dates. might just about get there if it was a once-off and fans travelling from the UK etc.

    Thanks,
So the rumoured date was correct.
Slightly mixed feelings (as with Arcade Fire at the same venue last year).

On one hand, it's a feckin Tuesday.
On the other hand, it keeps the event-junkies down.

Possibly may be taking a year off in 2018 but then again the GNR confirmation for this year came out of the blue and was announced at the start of Dec 2016

I could see Pearl Jam or Rolling Stones playing there in 2018

The GAA have a new fixture plan for 2018 and Croke Park will be in use a good bit during peak international touring season and may affect concert dates

possible summer Croke Park GAA dates 2018
    Sunday 24th June
    Sunday 1st July
    Sat/Sun 14th/15th July
    Sat/Sun 28th/29th July
    Sat/Sun 11th/12 Aug
    Sun 19th Aug
    Sun 2nd Sep

Not many Croke Park concert rumours for 2018 going around but surly the promoters will get a big act or 2 too play there ??

Pope francis is rumoured to be celebrating mass there around the 25th of August but I wonder will that count as 1 of the 3 concerts allowed? Hard to imagine standing on the pitch a week before a football final though. Maybe they'll bring the popes visit forward with the referendum happening earlier in the summer. Not that I care, I'm just wondering if that will only leave 2 dates. I'd like to see P!nk

Garth Brooks final North American tour date has been announced, Nashville on Sat Dec 16 2017. Seems like he might take the tour overseas in 2018 but he might take the year out and play overseas in 2019.

A return here is expected but not inevitable. Croke Park 3 dates or a nationwide tour ???

It’s about time Paul McCartney and the Stones came back to Ireland. I reckon they’d both sell out Crowe Park.
