    Does anyone remember Brittains on the Naas Road and Long Mile Road, they used to assemble Austin and Morris cars. I worked there 1970 to 1974. Met some great characters there.

    Don't temember it, but interesting. As the 70s were such a period of decline for British car making. BL was formed in 1968 as a conglomerate of a dozen diverse brands from mini to Daimler, inside the top 3/4 car makers in the world. But by 1980 it's sales and reputation had fallen off a cliff into terminal decline by the late 90s. A case study in how a substantial established business can go rotten quite quickly.

    Where the standards considered somewhat sloppy in their Irish assembly plant, or was everyone generally proud of the product they were producing there each week?
