Been out for a while , have many come off?

Looks like a fantastic turn out in terms of spectators in spite of the rain, great stage to get a good look at the riders.

Right now Kiryienka 12/1 with PP even though best time so far. Sorry to those who don't want to be deluged with betting stuff but it's just meant there as a matter of interest rather than anything else. Not betting on anyone for today myself.

Sky have 3 of top 4 atm!

That came out of nowhere, barely saw Thomas at all in his run good day for Sky so far.

If Froome is on form he could take this. Sky with 4 guys in the top ten potentially. What crisis?

BMC kit design crew must have been having the craic when designing that suit, looks like Porte is wearing a thong from behind :D

I have Thomas at 66/1 e/w for the GC

With him and Kwaito up on GC already it will be very hard for the other teams ...they are so strong riders and alternatives to Froome

    For Thomas read Froome 2012

    Huge odds @ 66/1

    Yowch, awful spill for Valverde.

I hope he can continue but looks bad

Wtf was valverde doing. He was going way too fast

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭brianomc

That looked bad for Valverde, hope he can get back up. Treacherous course in the wet.

Some main GC contenders might just go slow but safe.

took the impact with his knees / shins :(

He really does have some poor luck with falls.

Looks like that's valverde's tour over, very disappointing to lose a top rider on first day

He is wearing a thong. How else do you expect to avoid VPL wearing a skinsuit?

Missed Valverde's fall but you'd have to wonder what top gc guys have to gain by pushing things so hard on day 1. The possible negatives would far far outweigh the gains surely.

They should have put pads on that corner and other sharp ones when they got the forecast for rain! Memories of Boardman going down and breaking his foot in prologue in similar conditions.

He could at least wear the thong on the inside though :(

    Porte very slow for him

Nicolas Roche was flying when he crashed...got up and still manged to beat Chaves

He said it was the rain gulleys ...they were not covered
Millar said on ITV that they were covered in Holland

Martin taking those corners so gingerly. Looks like they're cycling on a sheet of black glass.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

    Looks like Roglic has crashed

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,761 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Tony Martin 1 sec up at the intermediate

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,761 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Valverde with a broken leg apparently, terrible luck.

Slo-mo shot of Martin approaching the line with the head of the child from The Exorcist
