Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone point me to second hand book markets etc for cheap second hand books? I've had a look in charity shops but there is usually not that much stock.

Chapters is the biggest, by far. I don't know how their prices compare, though. What kind of stuff are you looking for, and what are you already aware of, to avoid useless suggestions?

I see thank you. It looks quite retail. I'm looking for cheaper books as I don't have much to spend. Are there any large charity stores, markets, bazaars, etc that you know of?

Oxfam have a pure book store on Parliament St, Dublin. It is not your typical charity shop with 14 copies of the same Celine Ahern book. It is almost like a proper book store.

You could try the library, which is free. I started using the library recently to download e-books and audiobooks.

Hi I am selling a lot of books for cheap prices. Most of these books are in good condition and a lot of them are almost brand new looking. I am based in Donegal but occasionally travel to Dublin to sell books to Chapters Bookstore so could possibly meet you there someday if you wanted some.

    1 euro books:

Lots of special offers on books (7 Anthony Horowitz books for 5 euro for example) here:

The one off Wicklow Street is pretty decent, is it called the Secret Record and Bookstore or something like that? Usually pick up 2-3 decent books for between E10-12 in there.

It might not be what you're looking for but there's great value to be had looking through the used books section on Amazon. Just look for any of the ones that offer free delivery. For £25 you could easily get yourself 12-13 books.

I think a library is your best option. You can reserve books and collect when they come in.

Amazon Kindle have offers quite a bit if you read ebooks, hit and miss though so you need to read reviews before you buy.

Amazon's secondhand books can be good value too. I used to buy from awesomebooks.com but I think they've increased in price now.

At the risk of stating the glaringly obvious, but the Temple Bar book market is every weekend from 11am-6pm.

I've bought books for as little as €2 in chapters. Upstairs their second hand selection is huge.Something for all budgets IMO.
