    Hi,

Looking to get a TV that will passthrough 5.1 sound via the optical port to the Sonos playbar.
    40"-49" ideally.
Difficult to find this info in the TV specs - any recommendations from the TVs you stock please?

    Thanks

    Hi Anvilmas.

Optical will decode and output Dolby digital which is 5.1, although some need switched to PCM to function correctly.

However this depends on the broadcast or the soundtrack that you are playing.
I've seen it work fine for the likes of Sky etc.... Then stick on a Bluray and you have to change to PCM.

I do not have a list of the TV's unfortunately that output Dolby digital or PCM.

Are there any TV's that have caught your eye as I may have to call the manufacturer to find out this detail. Other wise I would need to check every TV we sell to see if it can do this.
