They'll get the same ratings no matter who is on. No point forking out for A listers

Harry & Skid, I was watching a programme about the National Gallery of Ireland during the week and it reminded me of that infamous 'Ireland's Favourite Painting thread of ours (it has since been cleaned up unfortunately :( ) I remember all the in-thread fighting got a mention on the Pat Kenny radio show, it's hard to believe was five years ago.

They don't and they would also receive awful criticism if they did.

RTE just don't have the money to get the A listers that Graham Norton does.

Norton's show is just a PR junket for A-list actors promoting their latest film or musicians promoting their latest album. It can be just as dull as the Irish chat shows, albeit with higher class guests.

They should really do a viewer prize of €1 million one of the weeks with the €107.5 million they got from the land sale.

You know, remotes do have "off" buttons... :o:o:o:);)

Oh, and you and everyone else are watching it not for this pisstake thread?

Agree, you can predict Norton's guest by looking at the movie release schedule.

I fell asleep waiting to see L7 on The Word, because S4C scheduled it at about 2.50 am :(

Trying to watch English Language programmes on that channel was like waiting up for the signed repeats on the english stations.

Miriam would get a conniption if they did what L7 did. Her Presidential prospects would go up in smoke :D

John Bishop looks like the sort of fella who should've had a part in Brookside.

Miriam and her guest's chairs remind me of those awful cheap plastic chairs we had in our Assembly Area at school.

    Don't Bash The Bishop.

    Not in Public, anyway.

    Well, I certainly wouldn't call *all* of Miriam's guests Z-listers... :o:o:)

John certainly isn't a Z-lister, regardless of one's opinion of him. Nor is Gilesy. :)

How many times have we heard this story about John performing stand-up when his marriage was in trouble?

It's not as if RTE go straight on for the misery angle.

    :pac:

    This is desperate..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

Okay, time to call a halt......will ya bring out John Giles now please.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,598 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Speaking of scousers, time for 'USA Vs. John Lennon' on Sky Arts.

But how will he get on? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,578 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Miriam, down with the kids still using Skype.

Amazingly clever segue to a show promo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,105 ✭✭✭Vorenus400

Is there any presenter in RTE who can have a conversation with a guest? They all go into interrogation mode. Never deviate from the script.

I think Bishop is okay, he is a good guest for here as he talks alot without prompting.

Miriam looks bored whenever the camera lingers on her

Another plug for an RTE show.

Mary should get one of them Dodgyboxes, stick it to the Man.

I heard they scrambled the signals?
They should make a crossover episode of Red Rock meets Fair City.

    Fair Fcuks ;)
Have they got the Guests on speed dial, we've already seen Bishop and Giles on either Tubridy or D'arcy's show

Miriam doesn't get equal pay for the guests, it all went on the other 2 shows.
    murpho999 wrote: »
In fairness Bishop is a matter of taste but is one of the biggest comedians around and John Giles is one of the best players Ireland have had.

RTE just don't have the money to get the A listers that Graham Norton does.

Even Graham is running out of them, i heard.

Btw: How's everyone, it's been too long :p

    Ah, you are very harsh.

    He's mildly amusing.

I'd rather hear this than someone murdering Sean Nos or some other Trad nonsense and waking up every dog on this Island and others, like they have on most RTE Talk Shows.

Replacing Brendan O'Connor with D'Arcy remains something RTE should never be forgiven for.  ;)

I watched Gaybo laughs back today and my god the gulf in talent between Gaybo and the three that are hosting these Saturday night chat shows is astonishing.

This Mid Interview contrived Question and Answer to promote another RTE Show is immoral, Disgusting, Vile, Cringeworthy, Sickening and must be stopped.
