Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aeroplane tickets that are orders of magnitude more expensive than the competitors that are Always Getting Better (TM) just because they bring you to an airport that is a couple of miles closer to your destination...

Memories is what you'd have. I'd take seeing some of the world over the latest gimmicky phone every time.

I never really understood why some people are obsessed with seeing the world. I always thought that it was the people you met in your life that were important and not the environment...Maybe you can share your perspective.

Although I agree with you about gimmicky phones and I have had my fair share.

You're not going on the right holidays ;)

    Smart TVs

A horrible, ugly, awful to use UI at several times the cost of a regular TV with an android box.

If you can say your TV is smart, you're probably not

    Yes s/he will.

iPhone insurance is around €100 annually. If you drop your phone then you will likely just need a new screen that costs around €150. So if you have your phone on contract and replace it every 2 years then as long as you drop it only once during the two years you will be better off. That does not even take into account the deductible. If you are dropping your phone more often then you should probably just buy a cheaper phone or cop yourself on and stop being so careless...And as for theft, it doesn't happen that often to warrant the cost of insurance...

A very unforgiving user interface, I find. If you accidentally press the wrong button, or the right button too many times, it can be very annoying and time-consuming.

150 in some dodgy Chinese shop that will void the warranty and no use whatsoever if it's destroyed, lost or stolen. I get great piece of mind from it anyway and don't have to worry about my phone as I can have it replaced for the 50 euro excess.

You get peace of mind by paying out €200 for a phone that costs €700ish new?

And by the way, I think the Chinese are probably the best people to be repairing these phones. After all, they put them together in the first place.

Concerts. I love pub gigs and smaller concerts but cannot see the appeal in large stadium gigs. I know many will disagree.

Pay a fortune for a ticket in order to spend an evening moving from one queue to another. Queue to get in, for an overpriced drink in a plastic container, repeat as drunk moron knocked over the last one, another queue for a toilet break in a filthy stinking box which ran out of toilet paper and water to flush some time back, spend most of the rest of the time trying to get a look over the multitude of phones being held aloft.
And then when its over the queuing begins again.

That extra 3 year warranty that argos try to sell you for just about anything you can buy there.

Serious illness cover for mortgages seems to be another one. Seems to be very difficult to actually get anything out of that if you need it.

Overpriced clothes and accessories with the brand written on them in huge letters. You basically pay a company to advertise for them.

Anything advertised as " Free " . Example . " Buy the latest Toyota wobblewagon for £30000 and get FREE motor insurance " or " Buy your fitted kitchen from us for £10000 and get the tiles FREE "
So you have to spend vast amounts of money to get the free stuff ??. Must try dropping into my local car dealer / kitchen showroom and just ask for the free tiles or insurance and see how that works ;)

I've had a few people say the same about their own boxes, in every case its user error.
Even the crappy 1gb boxes will play HD streams without issues from a 8-12mb line.

User error? Please educate me how I can make an error plugging in an RJ45 cable and opening up an app.

I am guessing you sell them and you're salty because I p****d all over your products.

In fairness, the whole car thing is preying on stupid people. When was the last time anyone had a driving experience anything near a car advert - wide open roads, smooth surfaces, beautiful wife and kids smiling.

The ads should show you stuck on Amiens St at 5.45pm in the pi$$ings of rain, crawling at 3 kmph, watching the cyclists fly past your inside or outside, as the truck in front kicks up a layer of muck onto your recently washed junkheap with the dodgy heating control while the kids knock lumps out of each other behind you and the missus tells you that you should have gone the other way and you never listen to her and she's always right.

I have nothing against paid streaming services. I use Netflix and it works great on my Apple TV. The Android boxes on Amazon are marketed as supporting 4K and come with free TV etc but the servers that provide that free TV are incapable of doing 4K and require registration. Complete s**t.

I have not tried Nvidia Shield with Plex but for non-tech savvy users Plex is unsuitable.

No I was already joking about the idiots on donedeal selling them, I hardly sell them myself. They're not hard to use, if you can't use yours, then you have obviously done something wrong.

Netflix is technically 4K but it's compressed to a much lower bitrate than a Bluray. It hasn't got anywhere near the detail.

If an android box can decode 4K then it can decode 4K. The services are the problem. And Plex is a piece of piss to use. A mate of mine has his 80 year old mother using it.
