There must be something in those powders. Dehydrated water is nothing.

the powder is usually glucose or powdered milk but the glucose isn't the medicine, the medicine is the dried up water they drop onto the glucose

I mentioned it because it's laughable that the point of homeopathy is that water retains a memory of whatever dissolved in it, and then they go and supply it in powdered form

New jeans that look like they've been dragged along the ground and go for a thee figure sum of money.

Amazon Echo Look. You try on two outfits. It takes photos and amazon tell you which outfit looks better on you. I have much more basic model in my house. It is called a mirror.

Bike wheels. Specifically flashy carbon, lightweight ones that cost a couple of thousand euro that will make them faster.

All to save about 200g in total weight over a standard wheel set that costs a fraction of the price.
Those type of wheels are designed specifically for elite cyclists looking for marginal gains i.e. make them 2 seconds faster per kilometre, not some MAMIL rider wanting to look keeeeewl.

Want to get faster and save the money? Look at those same elite cyclists and lose that stone instead. That's a weight saving of 6,350 grams right there.

No, not in Ireland. Here you just have to show it was on sale at some stage. The 30 day law is a UK law. In Ireland there is no such legal requirement. Its why Currys also fool people into thinking they are getting a genuine reduction. (check their small print "on sale at €699 11/1/17-18/1/17 etc)

    Not true - see http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/consumer_affairs/consumer_protection/pricing/pricing_of_goods_and_services.html
If a reduction is displayed on an item, the previous price must have been valid for 28 days over the previous three months.

a lot of activities are like that, hiking equipment has that as well, titanium tent pegs for example compared to steel ones at 5 or 10 times the price. Its pure vanity. If you are going up Everest maybe

If they had any sense they'd sell toilet paper at inflated mark ups at the same time as there's only one way those 7lbs are coming out of you with the tea.

Purveyors of "Collectors items", like this one, that sends out junk mail in the hopes of getting a few bites....

    https://www.dublinmintoffice.ie/

These days, almost everything sold door-to-door. Just go to a proper trader, shop or online outlet with a guarantee. Usually sold by scammers; factory reject furniture, house alarms, insurance, fire extinguishers, tarmac or building jobs, etc.

I see this topic was lifted for a Reddit post shortly after the original Boards one yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/6l2sik/what_products_prey_on_stupid_people/ and is now their top trending post in their most popular subreddit.

A small bit of Sherlock'ing shows the poster is indeed Irish https://www.reddit.com/user/batterydyingagain/submitted/

Anything for a bit of that sweet upvote Reddit karma eh?

I suppose imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

About $120 a year for decent to sometimes great TV? I think that's a great deal.

    True. Consider this.
$100.00 in 1977 had the same buying power as $414.83 in 2017
Annual inflation over that period was 3.62%

If that $100 was invested in a blue chip company like Coke in 1977 it would be worth $17,780 today. Exxon Mobil? $14,455 Procter & Gamble? $7,369.

    Better than nothing :D

Come to think of it. Mutual Funds with their exorbitant annual 'admin' fees prey on financially stupid people.

Vegans apparently. Have you ever eaten some? Manky stuff

The paleo diet is pretty damn stupid though, in the same vein.

If your TV has a Saorview tuner built in you need to spend about 40 bucks on a Saorview Ariel. If your TV has no built in Saorview tuner you need both a Saorview box Approx 100 bucks as well as the Ariel.

The vast majority of houses already had an aerial in the attic or on the roof from receiving analog rte and this is just reused for saorview.

I bought a TV with Saorview tuner, just plugged it into the normal ariel in the wall, got the channels.

You will see an awful lot of houses have something like in the link below on their roof or in the attic. This is connect to a socket behind the tv and gives the saorview signal to the tv and previously gave the old analog signal to the tv.
