    Hi all

I am currently in the process of buying a terraced house in the above address, and the surveyor who checked the house flagged to us that the apartments located on the other side of the street are in a bad shape with poor maintenance.

He has recommended us to find out first what kind of people live in these apartments. I don't think these are social housing but private dwelling, I also wonder if there is any antisocial behaviour or drug dealers around. We are not that familiar with the area.

Could anyone living in the neighbourhood advise me about it? Any comment will be valuable.

    Thanks a million in advance.

The surveyor asked you to find out who lives in apartments close to a house that you're buying?

Was this advice in general, for your peace of mind as such,

Maybe have a look at the website neighbours.ie, if its still around

It should have a page for clongriffin

Thanks for your answer. Yes, he suggested to find out due to their poor condition, I guess nobody wants to live in a bad neighbourhood or surrounded by buildings falling apart.

I checked daft.ie there are some of them for sale and renting and I have to say that at least indoors they look nice and neat.

I also had a look at the website you mentioned but the latest post is from years ago, unfortunately.

    Thanks!

Maybe there's an issue with the apartment's management committee... which is why the interiors are good but not the common \ exterior areas. Some of those management committees were set up as cash cows by the developers until the residents revolted...

I think if you go down there yourself you'll see that the apartments across from it are a bit run down looking. I live in clongriffin myself and it's a fine area, but those apartments could definitely do with a lick of paint. They also seem to be building in the wasteland finally so it'll feel more settled then.

No trouble-makers around from I can see, but with the big shopping center sitting vacant there's a very unfinished feel to the area. It'll get taken up eventually I'm sure, and the nearby park is great.

Thanks a million for all the answers, they give me peace of mind indeed.

Hopefully the area will be developing in the upcoming months, with a nicer look.

    Regards

Yes those apartments are fine, things are just about to take off again with new developments mostly from Gannon Homes but it is all on the cusp(Planning submitted or Planning just recently approved and finance lined up) at the moment so the full effects will not fully be seen until Jan 2018 onwards. They shouldn't have any problem fitting out the shopping centre with the population they are likely to have in the Coast, Clongriffin, Belmayne and parts of Baldoyle and portmarnock/kinsealy in five to ten years time. It has the largest amount of zoned residential land of anywhere in Dublin and they are also allowing some height so things are definitely on the up.
