    Hi,

I've given your query a thread of its own - this is preferrable to having the issue mixed in with a separate query from another Boardie.

    Cheers,

    Ritz.

    Hi Glen_Quagmire,

The main benefit of having the Android system built into the TV as opposed to connecting a separate box would be convenience.

The android system would do what the box does but you wouldn't need a separate power source or a cable connecting it to the TV, you simply press a button and all of your apps and connections are there.

I hope this has answered your question.

    Kind regards

    David

Thanks, I thought I was missing a trick there.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I thought it'd be better than setting up a new one. Are Android TVs worth the extra dollar? Are they a gimmick or are they the way forward do you think? The only apps I'd be using would be the tv players, youtube and netflix

    Hi CWF,

The benefits of the Android system really depends on how much you use the smart TV system and what devices you are connecting to it. It has a built in Chromecast and a much more open web browser so they are definitely worth a bit more money.

let me know what you think.

    Kind regards

    David

Deadly, thanks.Am I right in saying so that in regular smart tv's I wouldn't be able to watch the likes of the RTE Player without streaming it over from my android phone? On the android TV then you could download the player onto the tv and watch it directy?

You should be able to but I have heard of some compatibility issues. If it is available on the Play store on the TV you can install it no problem. However I would need to check on this.

    Kind regards
