Maybe they should do a deal with PM for Ireland, half price PM charge, or just get the PM crowd, nightline is it? to deliver to our houses. It would be 3 day delivery then.

Registered for prime, got the firehd tablet and a few other bits. Out of habit I picked standard free delivery, feck it,I'm not in a mad rush anyway.
A new tablet for less than the price of fixing the cracked screen on the old one.

FYI you can cancel Prime straight away and still enjoy the benefits for the full month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,032 ✭✭✭✭adox

I've had a couple of free Prime trials on the same account so wasn't due another.

After deciding there was a couple of items I wanted to buy I paid for a months sub and then spent just under £200 on the two items. Was still a huge saving for me.

I had a one4all voucher that I was given in work last Christmas so I used that to buy Amazon vouchers so I look at it all as free. :D

Neither item was immediately available so I just used my work address for delivery instead of PM.

Other option may be for PM or similar to set up a yearly account.
€90 for 12 months or something like that, with a fair use policy...

I have 2 items out for delivery to parcel wizard today. I have just received this in an email from Amazon

    Hello xxx,

Amazon Logistics attempted to deliver your package but couldn't leave it unattended. If you’d still like to receive it, please contact Amazon Logistics, quoting your tracking ID xxxxxxxxxx, to make alternative delivery arrangements.

Anyone get this? I'm away for a few days on holidays and could do without this hassle

My order was delivered to ParcelMotel today by Amazon Logistics. Order status says "Parcel was handed to resident".

Amazon chat. The email said it was Amazon logistics as the carrier....we will see what happens tomorrow. I assume they didn't bother going if they had loads of parcels. Anyone else get a parcel wizard confirmation that they have a parcel from Amazon?

Cool. Keep us updated. I'm away so don't have much time to deal with it so I'm hoping it sorts itself in the next 24 hrs

Amazon customer care is the best I've come across. They are a pleasure to deal with if there is an issue.

Just speculating, but today is July the 12th so bank holiday in Northern Ireland, could the both the Parcel Wizard and Parcel Motel depots be closed for the day

Could be but a post above says they got delivery to parcel motel today without issue, parcel wizard and parcel motel are on the same road

    Just got this reply

    Hi

It is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland today. Amazon will attempt delivery on the next working day

    regards
    Andrew

I guess parcel wizard staff are on a day off

That was me earlier confirming Amazon Logistics delivering to ParcelMotel today. Looking at ParcelMotel account, they haven't processed it yet - possibly due to same bank holiday.

I messaged them yesterday and they said that they were open today for all deliveries except royal mail who were observing the holiday. I had assumed at that point that they were fully open and would be processing the outbound shipments as well.

Edit - Just checked my account and my parcel processed

Probably closed at best or the delivery couldn't get past all the parades !

I had a delivery to DPD parcel wizard depot in NI attempted today but it could not complete. Probably due to the day that's in it.

I have to say Amazon customer care has gone down hill over the past few months!

I had bought an item that then the next day reduced significantly. Tried cancelling it, but had already processed, got onto CS to see if they would refund the difference, they had down so no bother in the past. But no luck this time, lots of back and forward, but they refused. I felt it was very poor of them given how much I spend on amazon.

After that experience I shop with them far less now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,160 ✭✭✭✭Berty

Amazon CS is a fun game. I just got a 3rd reply from them because I'm put out because I ordered something 3 days ago still in the Priority Dispatch Queue(I'm told). I was told other orders are going out before me because they're Prime People orders. I knew it couldn't be cancelled to kicked up fuss asking for it to be cancelled so had the £12 Priority shipping refunded along with £15 in vouchers onto my account.

When my item does ship it will probably be with UPS so will be quick.

BUT you can't get that from Tier 1 Customer Service. You have to e-mail them first, get a reply and then click NO when it asked was your query resolved and then click on whether you want a phone call or e-mail. I find e-mail easiest because you can be more formal and frank about what you want. You get onto Tier 2 Customer Service.

They always cave on Tier 2 Customer Service and you get something from the exchange. Yep, I'm one of those customers but I do it politely. :D

It's an idiotic rule too, as you can return the other item and then order the cheaper version (though clearly that's hassle, and they don't give prepaid labels for returns any more, so more hassle getting postage refunded)..

+1 on this. I opened a parcel this morning to see two copies of the same book. I thought I must have gotten two by accident. So I opened up the online order and found I had ordered two. I followed the steps to return an accidental order. At the end of the process, it said you will be refund and don't bother sending the book back to us.

Happens with food as well. Got the wrong coffee for tassimo and they said "we can't return food so keep it and we'll also replace it".

Oddly enough same thing happened the other day with Tassimo direct. Ordered 10 Latte and got 5 Latte and 5 Caramel Latte. They posted more.

I ordered two items yesterday with free Prime one day delivery to N.I. (Parcel Wizard).
On of them is arriving tomorrow, and the other is arriving Friday.
    Delayed
An attempt was made to deliver your package. Please follow the instructions on the attempted delivery notice or contact the carrier for next steps.
Probably not the easiest day/night of the year to try and deliver parcels up North.

I wish they would just offer two day delivery to Ireland. Or even call it "expedited delivery " or something. And cut out parcel motel. They can get it next day to Northern Ireland then I'd be happy to pay prime for two or even three day to my house.

They sent me a survey last year asking just that, about using amazon lockers and having full on Prime in the republic, so at least someone at amazon is aware it's something they could do.

Just bought an echo off Amazon on prime day, can't wait for it to arrive! I joined some fb groups for more info and came across this post about using a dot in the car and tethering it to your phone.. I'm with three, does anyone know if this will be charged a huge fee ?! Would be fab to use as a hands free kit in the car , listen to Spotify etc

I picked one up on Prime Day also. Can you recommend some FB groups or other information resources? I hope it will arrive today as I want to play around with it over the weekend.

Anyone who got one of the PS4 bundles had the PS4 shipped yet? Mine is saying it won't ship for another ten days, presumably a stock issue.

Excuse my ignorance whats an Echo?

It's a hands free speaker from Amazon that along with answering questions and playing music does all kinds of integrations with other home automation and internet of things gadgets

Got a text about 1 of my parcels. They should have 3 of them by now. PW are usually a bit slow in updating you. I've typically waited a full day after they receive items to get a text confirming it will be delivered.

I have Echo since yesterday and to be honest I am a bit unsure about it. It's cool for playing radio - and to amuse the kids for a while - but I don't have Spotify Premium or Amazon Music which it needs to play any kind of music. It wouldn't play the GBs of music I have on my NAS (no DLNA), and I don't have any home automation to speak off. It's hard enough to get it to pick the correct radio station, and trying to get it to read a book from Kindle is finicky.

What do you guys really use it for?

    Soo it lies!! :D

On the other hand I love the Bose SoundTouch 10 that I bought with Echo Dot (prime deal). Nice rich sound and plenty loud for the largest space we have. But it's not perfect, it doesn't play certain FLAC files from my NAS box, but I think I can live with that.

If you're looking to move it on, I'd be happy to take it off you! Missed out on it the other day :/
