Aidan O’Shea is delighted with James Horan’s return to the Mayo helm.

James Horan really seems to rate Joe Doyle most especially in terms of the field management.

    Anybody know anything about him?

It's next weekend so I'd presume it's next Sunday.

Historically county finals are fixed for the Sunday.

Castlebar 0-9 Ballintubber 0-9 with 12 mins to play, fair to say nothing between those two sides

Mitchell’s gone two up, seem to have located their mojo

    Extra time needed again

Fabulous free from Cillian to tie it up for ET.

12 points a piece at full time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,971 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

And if it’s level after et? Any chance of a free kick shootout?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

Hard to separate them again but yet again Diarmuid O Connor is outstanding.

Alan Dillon rolling back the years. His ability to pick a pass has not diminished.

Great to see Cillian's freetaking as good as it used to be.

A win for Tubber after extra time, 0-16 to 0-15.

Had to make do with Midwest instead of Mayogaa.tv and I have to say their commentary was excellent. Cracker of a game.

Michael D for president. Great commentary.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭Always_Running

Nearly took paper, rock, scissors to find a winner. 3 games in 3 weeks for Tubber now, Breaffy will never get a better chance to win a county title.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

    Superb contest.

Hard to say but Ballintubber wanted it that bit more when it came down it.

They'd have been spitting fire at the referee for not giving a free for a blatant foul on Diarmuid on the sideline in the closing minutes.

He gave the Mitchels ample time to manufacture an equaliser.

I've run out of superlatives for Diarmuid O Connor.

    See the above post.

I am presuming Michael D McAndrew as I was in MacHale Park.

Check out his commentary alongside Martin Carney for the All Ireland semi final 2017 in the run up to Bryan Sheehan's last gasp free attempt.

    It's gone down in folklore.

It was indeed Michael D and co commentary by Nigel Reape

Hearing James Horan on the podcast has me absolutely buzzing for next year
He is such a confident speaker compared to Rochford . He is on a great position to atta k the league whilst still blooding new faces and seems intent on doing both
I don’t care what anyone says winning a league title would be huge for this group and the transition to the next group
Interesting that he name checked Akram and Cian Hanley too
We are imo in an excellent position for next year ...............

The form of Diarmuid is a huge positive as well. He so badly needed the break as did many others
I’d wager there will be few if not no retirements

Buckle up it’s gonna be one hell of a ride next year !

Yes I'd be positive about next year based on the quality on the display over the last few weeks.

James Durcan kicked two lovely scores tonight in an otherwise subdued outing,he's a certainty IMO to be a top class inter county forward.Real quality.

The irish times reported that there will be no retirements

Agreed. The break and trip to America seems to have done a lot for him. He could have a big year next year.

I'll be interested to see what Horan does with midfield. Diarmuid will play there, but we need a couple of other options. Our lack of alternatives there was badly exposed this year.

In fairness I thought his running and movement was top class for Mayo when he came in. He is a bit raw but if he can nail his kicking, his speed will be a serious plus for us

With Castlebar beaten was anyone disappointed that Donie Vaughan will miss out on winning a county title?

Tooreen and Ballyhaunis contest yet another county hurling final today.

Carnacon and Knockmore will contest the ladies county final.

Is he retiring or something? You'd have to think Mitchels will be strong contenders, if not outright favourites, for the next few years anyway.

Think he meant in the present tense.

Tooreen retain the county hurling title beating a Ballyhaunis team including Zippy 0-15 to 0-11.

Mayo have a good panel and maybe in early league some additional forward talent willcome through. The Connacht draw isnt too bad but ideally hit the last 8 by winning Connacht rather than traipsing around the country

But I’m sure he’ll Toe the line, come next year.

True. All I'll say is its sad to see Vaughan doing a runner on his own club, others have the view that he gave them the boot once relegated from senior level.

Transfers like that takes the sole out of club football.

Minimum of a 4 week ban for the two Carnacon players who got red cards last Sunday.
The word 'Appeal' comes to mind!
