Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You may see a black band or a minutes silence at the first Netherlands game. One of their players who earned 6 caps died from an epileptic fit over the weekend. Her name was Sylvia Nooij and she was only 32.

England vs Scotland should be good.

Who are considered the favourites for the tournament?

    Germany 5/2, France 7/2, England & Sweden 10/1.

Germany vs Sweden is on now. Crunchy tackles flying in all sides and the ref is not quick with her whistle. It's a good game!

Its been a decent tournament so far. Heading to the Germany Italy game on Friday and looking forward to it.

England one up already against Scotland.

    Two nil to England.

    Edit: now three.

I haven't been too impressed with England either tbh, but good bit better than Scotland going forward.

    They haven't had to be.

They are dealing well with Scotland at the back and producing good football for a few minutes to score and its working.

Finished 6 nil to England, very easy for them.

Can they not just allow a non-gender/non/fluid player to do goals?

Yeah there will always be some clangers but it's not as bad as it used to be.

Iceland v Switzerland game very absorbing game. Iceland have been ahem physical in both their games.

All the games are on here in Austria so when I've been at home I've had them on in the background and I've been really impressed by the football so far. The level is of course still not that high but it's seems to have come on a lot since years ago. Goalies seems much better, been some great saves and only a handful of goals in the games I've seen

Spain should be absolutely battering England on the scoreboard.

Farcical decision by referee just now.
Penalty for Spain, then changes mind and gives a drop ball, but drops its straight to the English keeper! ?
Spain just aren't brave enough either, all tippy-tappy even though the clock is running down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,080 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

That goal killed it, England dreadful but did what you have to, score goals. Spain need someone to actually shoot, they were much the better team, but moral victory gets them nil point.

France are currently losing 1-0 to Switzerland. This result or even a draw won't be enough to save them from finishing 3rd and leaving the competition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

My mistake. A draw will do for France!

And they get the goal to equalise! Pressure is on for the Swiss now. They have to score.

It's a good free kick but awful goalkeeping. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,803 ✭✭✭irelandrover

The keeper has to save that

Goal France - bit of a howler from the keeper?!

A bit is probably an understatement.

    Scotland beat Spain!

It still wasn't enough to see them progress though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,080 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

England beat Portugal 2 1 with an understrength team, 100% record in group, Scotland beat Spain but Spain still go through.

The standard of refereeing is appauling and frustrating. Some of the decisions made are bewildering at times, FIFA/UEFA badly need to start training these referees like they do for the men's game, it must be incredibly frustrating for the players/coaching staff having to deal with such a poor standard of refereeing

I'm going to go Sweden, France, Germany and Spain for the semi finalists, though I hope England prove me wrong, and go on and win the whole thing :)

I'd be going for the teams in bold above. Austria looked decent so far.

No team has stood out as clear favourites for me yet.

Having a look at NL vs. Sweden.

The 12,500 capacity stadium in Doetinchem is completely sold out, has been since last week apparently.

Can't see this second quarter final going ahead. The pitch is clearly waterlogged. Surprised it hasn't been called off yet. Was looking forward to watching it too.

Match finally postponed, will be played tomorrow at midday. Only took 70 mins for them to come to the obvious conclusion that it wasn't to be played

All the tv bods and corporate uefa monkeys would stick their oar in though, so I'm sure they had to clear it with a myriad of chinless wonders before calling it off.

On at the moment on Eurosport, decent game. Denmark just equalised at start of second half.

Yeah its on More4 as well, great equaliser but shocking how quick the germans switched off thinking the free was coming.

Looking like Denmark are going to progress. Fair play to them considering how early (and silly) they went behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

England will fancy their chances now that a penalty shootout loss to Germany is impossible.

Great result for Denmark, Germany were poor considering they're Olympic and European Champions. Think England will struggle against France but should be a decent game too.

No idea what England's sub keeper is like, hoping we don't find out and she's a spectator.
