I see Tommy O’Brien started for UCD yesterday so the knock he picked up in u20’s camp wasn’t too bad obviously

Think he was named but didnt play.

Trinity 20s beat UCD today 29-24-cracking game. T without Sylvestre both Dunnes and Joe Byrne. Harry Byrne for UCD is very good. Sheehan for T was excellent as was Ruben Pim and Johnny McKeon and Jay Moriarty

Moriarty 12 and kicking?sheehan is very tall for a hooker he’s a big unit , do u have teamsheets from game or any ideas of other names on both sides ?

    NUIG 12- Barnhall 60

    Prem 1 Fixtures:

Clontarf v Dublin University - Dublin University by a score
Lansdowne v Navan - Lansdowne by 25+ points
Marys v Blackrock - 'Rock by a score
UCD v Terenure - UCD by 10+ points

Seems to be a much more competitive league this year. Navan winning it last year seems to have giving lesser teams more belief.

Interested to hear your thinking behind these predictions as if you look at results so far and use aggregates as a basis you get fairly different results

With Jack Kelly on the bench you might be right :)

Taking past performances along with talent on paper is the last thing you should do with U20 rugby.

Harry Byrne started for UCD, 18 year old outhalf starting in 1A. Very impressive even if UCD lost.

Other 18 year olds have played 1A this year.. not surprising Byrne is being fast tracked in as Andrew skehan ucd and michaels sct head coach would know him very well having worked with him in school

Not really Conor Hayes and Evan o Gorman both have for ym this season, Daniel Hurley , sylvester, Conor dean , caelan Doris all played last year as 18 year olds.. most Irish u19 players that are in 1A usually play

Which is my point if u are starting in the ail regularly at 18 you are pretty likely to have a pro career on your future.

Saw some of NUIG-Corinthians v Greystones today in division 2.
Poor game. NUIG much better and deserved winners

Not all division 2 results in yet and some big wins in division 3. with 13 in that division it looks like it possibly could do with being split into another division to stop some of the better sides running up big scores against weaker sides

Was at Rock/Marys-two decent sides-standout players were Rock hooker McLauglin and Marys centre Carey-although the latter needs to learn how to pass as he tries to beat everyone on his own!

Unlikely that Ternure v Mary’s will be that competitive would expect nure to be 2/3 scores better. Blackrock v Tarf will likely be close

Yes, he came on at 15 after 30 mins. Didn't do a huge amount really. Trinity looking strongest side in my opinion Lansdowne second best.

Trinity pack was good outside of the scrum. Dan Sheehan, Brian Egan and the 8 (can't remember his name) were all good. Max played too and was also good but got away with murder at the breakdown in what was one of the worst ref performances I have ever witnessed. Trin 10 12 13 were good too.

Yes, he is going well. Had a very good game against Marys up against Jack Aungier. Was dominant in the scrum yesterday as well but was given no reward. Cian Walsh at 8 for us was brilliant again.

good to hear on Bolger, was surprised he didn't play for Leinster u19. Focusing full time on prop should be good for his development.

Thanks, same Cian Walsh who played 12 for Belvo?

good to hear on Bolger, was surprised he didn't play for Leinster u19. Focusing full time on prop should be good for his development.
Yep, he is playing 8 again now. He's been brilliant all year.
Ye definitely and playing at a much higher level now which can only help. He's an impressive size for an 18 year old.

Bolger is still u18 this year. He has 3 years at 20s including this one.

He has huge potential, hopefully that clontarf prop school can get him upto scratch at the art of being a front row.

nope, was injured for a good bit there afaik.

also Lansdowne don't really play a lot of u20's anymore in their AIL side.

Not sure how you've come to that view. If you go back over the last few seasons there has been a huge amount of U20's playing in the senior team. Last season Paul Boyle, Tadgh McElroy & Oisin Dowling from the Irish 20's all played senior rugby whilst Peter Hastie, Barry Fitzpatrick & Harry Brennan also played senior rugby. Ronan Kelleher has barely been available all season for selection. Peter Sullivan & Tom Roche have trained with the club for less than 6 weeks.

Fair point.. meant more that they don't rely on them..

how'd Kelleher get on yesterday? did he get through the game uninjured?
