Interesting to see Jack Aungier at the Marys Lansdowne game today -possible move to Marys?

Potentially. Naas tighthead Adam Coyle moved to Mary's recently so surely Tarf would be a better move for him personally
Heard he could be staying with suttonians to get game time

From what I've heard Leinster have him the choice of Clontarf, Mary's or Lansdowne and it looks like he's chosen Tarf.

Was also surprised to see that Old Belvedere U20s lost to Suttonians on Saturday. Not sure who that says more about.

I think unless im getting 99 & 98 mixed up at this age group suttonians are very strong and have been winning everything the last few years. Whered you see that result?

Was told several of St. Michael's SCT are joining Blackrock RFC as there's a Michael's coach involved up there?

Lansdowne beat Old Wesley today in a friendly, Blackrock beat Cork Con and Old Belvedere lost to Suttonians by a point or two. I'd imagine Lansdowne will be team to beat this year with plenty of challengers.

Leinster u19s had solid win yesterday too, David Ryan and David Hawkshaw very impressive.

Ulster 19s aren't the strongest this year. Munster were comfortable winners over Connacht in Galway today. 43-8 win.

Does he not have to play for an AIL team as he is part of the academy

Why would there be uproar? Hes dufc i think so its pretty much the exact same as if he was still in belvo

Doesn't make sense to me that Craig casey is playing for Shannon, with Jack Stafford and Keith Kavanagh already two good scrum halfs there.

Have heard that a lot of 20s players are being told to go to clubs where they'll be playing first team rugby if they want to make the Ireland squad

that's true, but you'd think he'd aim for a bit higher.

Any one no if Callum Reid played for Ulster this summer?

No he didn't, rumour is that he has no interest in playing pro rugby at the moment.

If he did, he'd be favourite to be 1st choice 1 for Ireland u20.

I don't remember seeing his name on any team sheets. Corrie Barrett, another Ulster u19 prop, has been selected for otago u19's in New Zealand.

Yeah Barrett went to NZ during last season.

    He'd be under-20 this season.

Likely top 6 props involved with Ireland u20:

    Jack Aungier(Leinster)
    Jordan Duggan(Leinster)
    Joe Byrne(Leinster)
    Tom O'Toole(Ulster)
    James French(Munster)
    Bryan O'Connor(Munster)

Do you know if he's just on a gap year, or if he's out there for longer?

Not sure, suppose it depends on how he is finding it.

Heard a rumour Callum Reid would be following him out there but not sure on that.

I remember someone mentioning that he wasn't going to continue playing, so that'd be positive news if true. Is Reid u19 or u20 this year?

Leinster told him if he doesn't play regularly he won't make academy was minis at coolmine and as far as I know uncle is still over Ashbourne would be perfect fit for him

Well he made it last year so yeah he likely will..

Will he be 1st choice? Wait and see..

He could still play regularly at that lower level and still not make the academy..

As i said it would be an odd choice for him when he has options at 1A.

Rumour going around saying he has potential but strength level and gym work let him down heard he does even bench press 100 kg compare that to porter at same age

Well Porter was a freak and comparing anyone to him is silly.

He played ireland u20 last season as a u19.. he was 1st choice LH for leinster u20.. he will almost certainly be involved with ireland u20

Same could be said for second row Daly when compared to James Ryan but you can't compare that. Both Duggan and Daly will surely get stronger throughout the year

Former newbridge no 8 paddy Ryan is now with Northampton.. When did this happen?

Daly another terrible player makes you wonder how the system lets player like him get this far

you have to question where the 20's is regarded when tierney can have a disaster with the women and get the backs coach role. the filler for the last world cup was unfair on the players as well.

  • Site Banned Posts: 262 ✭✭letf

    Yeah its a joke..
