Don't right belvo off they'll improve

without hawkshaw they dont have a chance..

even with him they need to get barry etc back to compete

Good finish to the game but shocking standard

I hate this attitude of because it isn't pro standard it is "shocking " it is a children's amateur game!
It was a decent standard and entertaining. Enough errors to make it good. Sub hooker on for belvo meant lineout was a bit Shaky.

Gonzaga 9 was good. As well as 10

Hard to pick stand outs from belvo. Big pack. 6 looked good. Solid defensively in general.

Belvo didn't look like cup winners but as pointed out missing starters

But harsh to say shocking standard no?

wish they had a similar structure to munster and zaga had a 2nd chance..

for anyone who attended who played well today?
Would be far better especially as the players season now over and January not finished yet.

There is something but many dont compete in it. Its given no coverage and support compared to cup

There is a plate but it isn't run properly and ends up a mess. Games take ages to be played certain teams don't enter etc

“Shocking standards” when big 6 don’t run away with a win, no one on this board is giving kudos to Zaga for putting it up to them.....posters here don’t like to think the so called second tier schools are closing in on the precious Big 6......zaga,Roscrea,gerards and knock have upped their games massively, as zaga demonstrated in today’s score line. Missing starters, boo hoo, all schools have to deal with same.

    Hawkshaw dislocated his shoulder.

    Hawkshaw dislocated his shoulder.

    Unfortunate , that's about 12 week recovery

  • Registered Users Posts: 19 Union123

Not the best standard of rugby from both sides but gonzaga were definitely better than I expected them to be so fair play to the lads. Their 10 and 12 were standouts. Belvo's backrow are dangerous. Try scorer Coleman has an outstanding workrate. Quality was poor from majority of team

    Hawkshaw dislocated his shoulder.

Yea I was talking to belvedere physio after the game and he said "dislocated, he won't be playing again"

Heard it was his elbow not his shoulder

    Shoulder. 100%

  • Registered Users Posts: 26 Gavin4

Competitive game - very tense and enjoyable - either side could have won
6,8,9 for belvo and 9,10 , 13 with some fabulous defensive trackles and plays, were the standouts imo

    Belvo 9 - Ted Walsh

    Zaga 9 - Jack Connolly
    Zaga 10 - Eoin Barr
    Zaga 12 - Arthur Henry
    Zaga 13 - Brian O'Donnell

Boohoo when 40% of a team are out injured?
    2,5,8,10,12,11?
Including a guy with 2 x senior cup medals in his back pocket already, who captained Leinster 19s and has played for ireland?
    Seriously?
All you can say is boo hoo?

Gonzaga deserve massive credit for what they achieved today putting it up to Belvo.

Today was their golden opportunity to take a big scalp and they came up just short.

They were ferocious at the breakdown in defence, secured outrageously fast ball at Ruck Time, tried to play an expansive game and almost scored from a couple of crosfield kicks.

    12- Mulvainey?

    Hawkshaw dislocated his shoulder.
Unfortunate. At least he'll likely be playing next season in club rugby. How many other of his fellow 6th years wont be?

Injuries are natural part of game. Always is high enough proportion of a squad of 30 or so out injured at one time anyway.

2- ? Harmon off after 10 mins Today
    5- ? James Murphy
8-? Harry beggy - JCT captain 3 years ago
10- Hawkshaw? Yes, off after 30 mins today
    11- Barry? Yes
    12- Mulvainey? Yes

    Shoulder. 100%

    It’s not his shoulder.
    Elbow

Needs a scan to see if there’s damage done.

    He was.
    Byron would have been 6.

good game - ridiculous to say poor standard - game had everything you would expect from what is amateur schools - lots of tension in a game of 2 halves - zaga will be kicking themselves , Belvos no. 8 man of match - zaga could have won it in the end if they had a bit more pace. overall Two even teams. Thats the horror or beuty of the cup , only one winner. Like many, i know what horrible that defeat tastes like.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭irishfan9

    Byron would have been 6.

    interesting.

Of all those players injured what is the drop off in talent like with the replacements? Is there a huge gulf? If so no chance for Belvo this year especially if none will be back

It's early in the tournament but, on yesterdays form, Belvo didn't strike me as a likely "cup winning" team! It will be interesting to see Michael's today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 123 ✭✭Noscrumnowin

    Predictions for today?
Would love if Terenure could produce an upset but Michaels will just be too strong Michaels by 10-15

Been discussed already but would be more interesting to see what % are still playing one year on from finishing school as well as four/five years on.
Numbers going pro is fantastic but numbers continuing to play on at any level is more important

Thought yesterday was a pretty poor game. Large periods with not very much happening. Belvo the better side but looked almost undercooked. Impressed with Byron, Lacy, Hill and Walsh from Belvo.

Thought the half backs were good and the 2 centres looked decent too.
Was focusing more on the Belvo guys to be honest.

If both him and Henry Hayes were fit he’d of been on the wing yeah

Not a bad backline aye ?

well i'm guessing it here at the moment..

    9. George Moran
    10. Jamie Devlin
    11. ?
    12. Dominic Henry Hayes - OUT
    13. Adam La Grue
    14. Ross McInnes - OUT
    15. Sam Dardis

Good backline, but everyone knows they have that.. the pack is the problem..
