Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    9. George Moran
    10. Jamie Devlin
    11. ?
    12. Dominic Henry Hayes - OUT
    13. Adam La Grue
    14. Ross McInnes - OUT
    15. Sam Dardis

Good backline, but everyone knows they have that.. the pack is the problem..

Luke Murnaghan on the other wing , he started last year

I'm not in the know but from watching for a few years I could guess McGetrick could possibly be filling in on the backline.

Des Berry: Ryan's improvised kick almost closed down by Luke Murnaghan, St Michael's penalised more than once for high tackles that looked perfectly okay.

10-3 Terenure. La Grue with the try

TRY Adam La Grue slips through for try, converted by Jamie Devlin for 10-3 on 18 mins

it would be very typical for michaels to lose this game given all the talent and hype.

That's what I feared from the minute the draw was made.

Is this more or less the same Terenure team narrowly beaten in the Junior Cup final 3 years ago?

presumably you are there, thoughts on 1st half?

STMC penalty. Unbelievable!!! Off the cross bar, STMC gather the rebound and score under the posts! 20-10 up

TRY: St Michael's flanker Scott Penny's willingness to chase a lost cause is rewarded with a try converted by Ryan for 20-13 in the 37th minute

    Terenure penalty. 20-13 STMC

Chris Cosgrave under the posts. 27-13 up.

Chris Cosgrave's Larmour-step-off-his-left is too much for 'Nure. 44 mins.

St. Michael's College Twitter are tweeting update. It's from their school Twitter account and not their rugby Twitter account

Michael's Twitter account saying 27-13, Terenure Twitter account say 25-13

    15 minutes to go

It’s 25-13, Cosgrave attempted the conversion after his try for some reason and missed a simple one

Eir Sports are showing only one first round match (Fintan's V Gerard's on Thursday). They will be showing all matches in the Leinster Senior Cup from the quarter finals onwards

Andy Skehan , their director of rugby quite literally said they were favorites in an article on idependant.ie

not too long ago that result would be a massive shock - think nure and Marys should join league - you could say roscrea have now overtaken both these schools , and they themselves nearly went under as a school last year.

not a shock to anyone familiar with schools rugby the past 5-10 years..

    but agreed both schools should..

terenure's yearly under performance and lack of top end talent production should be an area of concern for leinster rugby

Why should Terenure be a special case concern for Leinster rugby? There are plenty of other schools doing good things. It’s clean St Michaels are setting the bar, others schools should learn from them. Although, I also think Michales have an especially talented group, have witnessed their current 4th years operate from u8’s club rugby. Nearly all played with Landsdown/Belvo

not a special case.. but its one of the larger schools and its underperforming.. cant afford to have such a large school slipping away

Terenure have drawn Michaels or Blackrock in the first or second round every year since 2012 I believe? Explains things a bit

explains cup performance but not lack of academy prospects or ireland underage players.

Slipping away is what exactly? They still have rather ok numbers progressing to adult rugby and high level after school and also have rather good numbers continuing to play at any age of adult level.

You could say yearly underperformance but when was the last time a non big 6 school knocked Terenure out? There was Roscrea in Tallaght but none since then and none for a while before then so its not as if they're being beaten by league teams on a yearly basis.
And the lack of top end production is debatable, the club team are second in the AIL and you could count on one hand the players in the panel that didn't go to the school, then youve the odd academy player they produce.
You got to consider today they were missing 2 very good leinster reps and they weren't out played, they are producing good rugby players, they just seem to be a bit smaller than their competition in recent years which has been their downfall.
If Terenure dropped to the league then in my opinion gaa would take over, the club would suffer too and it would be a downward spiral, it's a lull jusr now, it happens.

I dont see how it would be all doom and gloom if they dropped to the league.
You are correct on the club and non terenure past pupils.
I dont see how GAA would necessarily take over if terenure dropped to the league. What makes you think that?
