Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone else think that roscrea are really big dark horses this year? They didn't do great in league and didn't play fantastic in the first round but they've got some handy back line players and a strong pack with arguably two of the best props in the competition with Milne leading the charge as captain. Would like to see these guys go all the way.

Watched them v Rock before Christmas in Donnybrook and they were crushed by Rock

They are weak defensively. Would expect Milne and Wyncherley to get sub academy next season

    Ehat is their hooker like?

Not sure but Ryan lomas will be starting in that pack too and he’s another international standard prop

wouldnt surprise me to see Milne joining the Connacht academy straight from Roscrea.

will only get a sub academy place from Leinster and has many ex-teammates in Connacht setup.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭irishfan9

PBC lead 26-0 in 1st half.
    CBC lead 17-10.

I think any school boy prop with professional ambitions will be looking at options outside of Leinster. Milne plays tighthead, right? Furlong isn't old, Porter is young and in the Ireland setup, and Aungier is a highly rated prospect. It'll be tough getting game time.

yeah pretty much, road much easier in Connacht than Leinster and given his ties to Connacht, Roscrea being a feeder school to their academy. It's hardly a surprise when offered a full deal by Connacht and only a sub deal by Leinster.

Milne would be under pressure from Clarkson in Leinster also IMO.

Tie of the round for the SCT quarter finals.

Difficult one.....best performances or closest match? I would say ....Blackrock too strong for a lively Gerards, Michaels big winners over Clongowes, Belvo need to up game to get past Newbridge and no doubt they will....Finally the closest match I suspect will be Roscrea and Mary's and I would take Roscrea by a try!!!

Very likely he will end up there imo has very close links to Buccaneers RFC too and having not started all u19 interpros he could be a great steal for connacht although fellow school man Ryan lomas will be very hopeful of getting an academy spot over the coming years and with him, Matthew Burke , Conan O’Donnell and Conor Kenny all being young it may not be a position that Connacht are in the market for

Roscrea were very fortunate to beat Wesley , and were well beaten by Castleknock in the league qfinal . Hammered by Rock pre Christmas.
Marys will have to be strong favourites here.

As much as I would love to have seen Knock beat Roscrea well, the fact is that it took a replay and Roscrea had a penalty to win in that replay with the last kick of the game....it was also as well as Knock played all season and on a par with their performance in the first 55 mins against Blackrock. I also saw Knock play their worst game all season, have a perfectly good try disallowed and lose by 5 to Marys so based on those performances I would really fancy Roscrea...Blackrock are capable of hammering any opposition with the possible exception of Michaels so not much to take from that result. I think it will be close and would not make Marys favourites....looking forward to it anyway as the closest contest of the qtr finals.....

Good to see RBAI also sporting tackle your feelings on kit. Its an important issue especially in schools and its good to see schools acknowledging it

Junior schools rugby cant be discussed. read the warnings on the thread...
Looking at Munster draw. Should be Glenstal in final. Wont guess cork derby winner.

out of curiorisity - have Glenstal always been strong in Munster - or is this just a particularly good team coming through ??
