Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He was very balanced and composed he looked good

He is very good, some people on this forum making some very farcical statements. We know weight is not that important as a back as Adam LaGrue wouldn't be on Leinster if that was the case. Keep in mind this man has played in certainly more tense occasions than a mere schools rugby game.

That was a marked improvement from Belvo on their first round performance. Against Gonzaga players looked to be playing with cement in their boots. Not so today. They were a lot more clinical in the back line and always made 5-10 yards off every carry which kept them going forward which did not happen in last game. Lacked real cutting edge and aggression to get them into contenders category but if they keep improving as they are they will have that in the next round. Lacked real urgency today which makes me think there are better teams left but if Michaels go out I could really see no obvious contenders for the Cup and could see Belvo winning. Looking forward to seeing Mary’s for first time tomorrow. Already know that Roscrea have players to go the distance so will be interesting to see if either are contenders from their showing tomorrow.

Quite arrogant of the original poster to insult the tradition with such ease having not realised that Belvo and Michaels do it as well, all these schools rugby “experts” and they have never even been to a top 3 schools cup game before!

    Wow ... that escalated quickly!
    To be clear;
I would be a great admirer of Rock and their fantastic rugby tradition.
I have played against them at both JCT and SCT level and attended many games since so while I wouldn’t claim to be an expert I would have a certain limited knowledge!
I have also no issue with a team singing their school anthem with their supporters before a match - it adds to the atmosphere!
However, I just got the impression that the team were more into their pre-match performance than they were into the opening 20 minutes of the game! And I have just looked at the video again and I stand over that perception!

I’d say Rock were operating at about 30% yesterday. They didn’t show up and their heads weren’t in it. They humiliated Gerard’s at scrum time without even meaning to do so, sometimes lifting the hooker off his feet and mauled them off the pitch without really getting out of first gear. I would say they went easy on themselves and on Gerard’s as they didn’t really expect a hugely physical encounter.

If Hawkshaw is back for semis I’d assume he’d return to 10 surely?

Also these semi finals are shaping up very nicely...

Exactly it is more about ability and skill set. Weight can be worked upon.

He will get trials if not given a spot in Leinster just for the fact that he goes to a top 6 school.

Not sure who it is tomorrow, how the fixtures are arranged, but I think Mary's will win by 8 or more and Clongowes to pip Michaels who always choke

    Mary's to win by 9

Lacey and Grogan from Belvo would be interesting prospects if they chose Rugby over Dublin football. Not sure what sort of prospects they are in GAA.

Not surprised, maybe more of a flanker going forward though but obviously still time to bulk up

marys dropped a howler when in for a try.

Mary's have a much better back line. Would expect them to go through over the 70 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭D14Rugby

Very impressive mauling from Marys against a far bigger pack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

    And another certain try butchered

Mary's have killed another certain try with a forward pass.

  • Registered Users Posts: 314 ✭✭Stephen Hawkins football boots

Mary's could be out of sight

Mary's in again. Fwd over off ruck near line. Lead by 14. 22-8

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭D14Rugby

    8-22 to Marys, that's that you'd guess

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭irishfan9

Marys are way better than Roscrea.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,090 ✭✭✭FellasFellas

Knock on by Marys 9 in lead up to that. Referee has been absolutely abysmal for both sides in this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Lead the very least Mary's deserve. Should be further ahead
