Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Roscrea are disappointingly poor. That second try was criminal defending

    Aidan McCullen is genuinely clueless

Try Roscrea. May not be over yet.
    Finally using their forwards effectively.
Got a penalty, very good kick from distance for lineout near line, threw to front, went over after a couple of phases.
    22-15 Mary's.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭D14Rugby

or maybe thats not that, lovely solo try

    Roscrea, great breakaway try.
    Right in the corner.
Will be a tough conversion attempt.
22-20 to Mary's with kick to come.

    It's over. 22 each.
    Cracking game.

Mary's in the left corner. Used the backline off a ruck.

But can’t dominate in the forwards and backline is ineffective

just proved you wrong on both counts in the last 10 minutes :)

Mary's have a man off for a yellow

Roscrea have a lineout 15 out.

throw not straight for Roscrea. Bad mistake there in a good position.

    Mary's 19 has been excellent

    Try for Mary's.
That's it surely with 3 mins left.
    32-22 with conversion to come.

    Late try from Roscrea.
    32-29 to Mary's.
    Final Score.
Either team could have won that.
Roscrea didn't make enough opportunities to use their fwds.

First time in 8 years that Mary's make the semis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Better team won but don't see Mary's going any further. Backline who can mix it with anyone in attack but their defence is porous and they seem a bit small up front. Have a decent maul

    Connacht u19 IIRC.

In connacht sub academy could be a bolter for Irish 20s next year as connacht push there sub academy players hard to try get players in

Not surprised, maybe more of a flanker going forward though but obviously still time to bulk up

He’s 6’3 and over 100kg not too sure he needs to bulk up

Yeah people in roscrea were telling me he was weighing anywhere between 95-100 last year whilst playing in cup presume he’s put on a few more since

  • Registered Users Posts: 413 ✭✭MDunne14

Would like to see a forwards training session between roscrea michaels and rock like the English and Georgian session to see how the 3 packs compare

  • Registered Users Posts: 413 ✭✭MDunne14

Both 15 were impressive today be interesting to see who out of the two gets in with Leinster along with a couple other back 3 players in the comp

  • Registered Users Posts: 140 ✭✭6elieve

10 tries in 2 matches for marys :)

Only saw highlights but Marys 15 dealt with roscreas breakaway dreadfully. Barely attempted the tackle

  • Registered Users Posts: 45 Fox90

I’ve seen him play a few games and his defence is generally poor

Silly question probably but is there a date for the final yet?

Michael Milne honestly would not look out of place at a Pro 12 game.

If he moves to Connacht or Munster he would probably start or atleast be a sub

Not for a year or two...

  • Registered Users Posts: 108 ✭✭Rala_

    He wouldnt.

    Why?

Not for a year or two...

Heavy pack not much more too them, Brain over Brawn anyday.

He wouldnt. He's a powerful kid but not once played a game of adult rugby yet and even a move to Connacht or Munster wouldnt see him play pro14 even off bench.

He is headed to connacht anyway

  • Registered Users Posts: 314 ✭✭Stephen Hawkins football boots

    He wouldnt.

    Why?

The threatened lawsuit and they don't see themselves as a Leinster school

They completely see themselves as a Leinster school. You cant in any way say they dont and i wont discuss the lawsuit as its reason for thread to be closed

Both probably behind other 15s, Shields might get a shot at wing.

Shields is a winger for Leinster, shines there best.

Am I the only one who can’t get over how good marys maul was today ? Roscrea probably 150 kg heavier in the pack, if not more

  • Registered Users Posts: 314 ✭✭Stephen Hawkins football boots

Yep Mary's were really well drilled, maul was excellent

    Michaels team for tomorrow?

    Impressed by Mary's hooker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Said earlier, Mary's were excellent with th ball. Should've had a try or two more than they did. Great invention and continuity. Maul was superb. Don't know how much of all that was Roscreas defence.

But they were pretty poor without it. Roscrea made yards for fun which is a concern with more big packs to come. Tackling was awful at times
