So after yesterdays snoozefest & 20 seconds of the Marcel Kittel show it looks like we're in for the same again today.

    CARTE.jpg
The Tour gets closer to its Pyrenean base but mountain specialists will still be preserving their energy. Going through the areas of Les Landes and Gers, the command of the pack will probably be left to the teams of sprinters. The escapees having made the effort to take off will, why not, have the opportunity to make a prayer at the Notre-
    Dame-des-Cyclistes Chapel, situated in Labastide-d'Armagnac.

In 1989 Martin Earley won Stage 8 of the Tour de France, that finished in Pau.

Ah memories. A great rider but understandably overshadowed by Roche and Kelly at the time. His distinctive glasses helped him to stand out and he was one of my favourites of the time. He went on to race mountain bikes if I recall correctly.

And the breakaway is gone... token wanty rider included

We need more A4 riders in the Tour de France.
The break would never get away. Feckin' chase everything down. Would make for an interesting 200km. And some lad with a fat arse who sat in all day would win the sprint. At least it would be good to watch.

I'll do everyone a favour and not put this on today, that way something is bound to happen once I'm not watching :D

Haven't gotten to watch much of the tour(yet) this year but what I have seen seems to be flat stage after flat stage.
Why are the stages so flat this year?

Because they lost so many in the first big mountain stage. If they did more stages like that the winner would be the last one on two wheels.

Isn't that what what it's all about?

The tour alternate's between clockwise and anti-clockwise routes. This year the route is an anti-clockwise direction, which usually results in more flat stages in the first week.

I actually did not know that, thank you.

He did indeed. He represented Ireland, in the XC MTB race at The Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996. He also raced Mountain Bikes for Team Raleigh in '95 and '96.

    Confirmed that he's abandoned.

Stages like these being shown on TV from km zero do no good for the sport.

In Pau and having a flat stage.

It was the least looking forward to a Tour ever for me looking at the route beforehand.

    Easy Kittel win again today.

Contador/Gogl wrapped up in each other at approx. 21.5 km out. Both back up, but Gogl a little slowly.

He must be in bits at this stage, small knocks or not they add up. Man has serious issues staying on the bike and not always his fault, he's got terrible luck.

Kittel here again today baring a disaster, he wasn't even going full tile in the intermediate and managed to stay with the other 3 comfortably.

Bodnar is gunning for it there though

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,054 ✭✭✭✭neris

    gwan bodnar

  • Registered Users Posts: 643 ✭✭✭REBELSAFC

I thought Kittel had lost it there fro celebrating too early

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,054 ✭✭✭✭neris

    ebh went very early

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Matthews definitely got blocked in by EBH.
    Probably still wouldn't have won

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,054 ✭✭✭✭neris

froome was very close to the front coming across the line

Got to admire bodnar for that effort. 90% of riders would have rolled back into the peloton and gave up.
