    Hi,

have failed the NCT on a visible warning light around the Steering Angle Censor in my Saab 9-3. Bottom line is that i need a new CIM unit. Mechanic (Good Guy) has been chasing Saab and his contacts and there ain't one available in the world. So, he sent the old one for a re-furb to the UK. Looks like the refurb didnt work, and i am back to square one.

The car is fine (easily passed all other NCT requirements), the mechanic says the error is immaterial, but he can't get it out of the system.

Appears that my only option now is to scrap the car (its in perfectly good nick, 130,000km, new timing/fan belts last year, 2006).

    Anyone any thoughts?

    Hi croucher,

this is rather specialised SAAB stuff. I suggest you sign up with uksaabs.co.uk and ask on their forum, very knowledgeable SAAB heads there. Used CIM modules are available, you just need to know where to look. And - you need to get the correct one for your car. Read this thread for starters to get into the mood...

There are lots of saabs being broken all the time. Bought my first one a while back and have been slowly replacing bits and bobs.. No issue at a getting parts..

Definitely no need to scrap the car unless you want to l.
