Bar Licensing Laws - Outdoor bar

There is a bar in our residential area which was intended to be a community amenity and has become a magnet for young people outside the area. As a result there is noise, streets are littered with takeaway paper, and for some reason the youths stand outside homes and chant.

The owner has converted a gap between his property and another (he does not own he leases from the centre owner) into an outdoor sports bar and frequently has late night music sessions much to the annoyance of homes with families meters away.

Now I know there is always the one or two bell ends that will say why did you buy near a bar and put up with the noise. Well with young children repeatedly being awaken terrified from shouting .. is unreasonable.

I wish to file and objection. Anyone know what the law is regarding beer gardens and playing loud music past 2:30 am.

    Yours

Surely your first port of call is his planning permission? Have you looked it up on the council website, to see if he's allowed to do what he's doing, and complained to their planning enforcement people if not?

Call the guards, they will do the necessary, report it as a nuisance

Between licensing regulations and planning permission, there is probably something you can do here.

It is worth finding out who the Garda is who is in charge of licensing in your area and making his or her acquaintance.

Make an objection to their license extension, you need to do this in August each year. You can do this yourself or ask a solicitor to do it for you.
You will then need to attend court and inform the judge of the grounds, e.g . impeding on your ability to enjoy your home in peace.
