im looking to get van insurance on a caddy/berlingo etc. im a 20 year old student so wondering if any insurance companies will cover me?

I read earlier about someone trying to get a quote on a van and they were told no as it wouldn't be used for work or something similar. Not sure how true that is though.

You will struggle to find anyone who will quote. Most companies demand a commercial reason for you to have a commercial vehicle. Patrona used to be the only ones who would quote for it for non-commercial reasons but even they have gotten stricter. And I don't think they take anyone under 25.
