You missed nothing, it was delayed for ages. Conor came out in a fur coat and proceeded to give shout outs to rappers and claim he is half black - from the waist down and insult black women..he had very little else of interest to say. Floyd threw a load of dollar bills at him and called him a bitch. They did a fake scuffle on stage..people couldnt hear the audio and were pissed off. The end..

I heard the audio just fine. it went....

Conor: What you doing after the show?
Floyd: Nothing just chilling in my room.
Conor: Want to head out throw money at some hoes?
Floyd: Sure but aint you married?
Conor: She wont find out me and Dee were like that (cross fingers)
Floyd: I said the same until I had to beat my B'***h.

Ok thank God Conor has calmed it down in the Q's backstage:

Nothing like the ole "I don't even see colour" line...

It's more like getting the Times or Indo in to commuter friendly tabloid format. It's aimed at early morning commute reading, that's the only reason it's in tabloid size. It's a reputable, well respected news source.

Fair enough, it just screams the Sun etc as you mentioned. He was being pulled up on his post for trolling and being uncivil regardless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 765 ✭✭✭Dozyart

I think Conor was on fire last night because he was genuinely angry with Showtime/Mayweather etc......tonight felt like he had to try and put on a show and it failed!

The fight will still sell no matter what, the people who hate the thoughts of such a bout will still talk and tell everyone why it's terrible....and still watch it!Them lads are winning no matter how bad their slagging gets.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,683 ✭✭✭Subcomandante Marcos

He seems like he's been badly advised.

I actually think that's the opposite of the problem tbh.

He's got so far by doing the mini-floyd impression that nobody has questioned it, his lack of media coaching is super evident at times, he's not badly advised, he's just not seeking or taking advice.

Ah yeah, not questioning that at all, like I said, just questioning the source being legit or not ;)

I keep hearing this but you know theres alternatives to paying ppv and still seeing the fight right? I cant buy it as im abroad that night but I would be availing of them avenues as many others will so it doesnt really wash.

I'm actually amazed/astounded at how this press conference seemed to go down online with the under 20 age-range.

They're all raving about it! Saying the first 2 pressers were crap but this one was epic?!!?

I feel like I've slipped into an alternate universe.

It certainly was not an attempt at trolling. I was merely voicing an opinion that I am quite sure many others reading and/or contributing to this thread are thinking.

At least they'll be saving their money, they're the smart ones. Anyone who actually pays to watch this needs their head examined.

By tomorrow, all the bad stuff from the presser will be forgotten and pretty much two things will be remembered.....

McGregor wore a polar bear and told the crowd he was half black.
Floyd rained dollar bills down on him while wearing a pair of wedges.

That's actually hilarious! I thought they were just a normal pair of runners at first glance, the state of the two of them at this point with their use of heels and lifts :D

The truth is probably still that there is an inch in it in McGregor's favour, as the tale of the tape says.

Floyd looked slightly taller tonight, take off them shoes and Conor is probably an inch taller imo

McGregor often wears shoes with a good heel on them to look taller.

6/1 for the fight not to go ahead is looking more and more like a decent bet. If Conor continues to walk this thin line he's on with race there'll be protests and an organised campaign against Showtime and sponsors. With a 100m on the line he needs to wake up here, this isn't Rio where he can get away with edgy material against Aldo.

He's under the microscope there now, if TMZ and Twitter start digging up some of the stuff he said to Aldo, Diaz and Siver he could soon be on thin ice. You'd think his management, agents, coaches would have a word no?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭wonderfullife

Toronto had plenty of funny moments without ever coming across too cynical.

    Brooklyn had dark, sinister undertones.

It was as if they tried to compete to see who is the bigger arsehole.

The *only* positive I can find is it might reduce expectations for London and right now that's a good thing.

lol not a hope this fight getting pulled. there's just too much money for the people involved. this isn't some tech startup in san francisco, nobody cares if people are offended. it's a one-off fight, get the free publicity, get more PPVs and get out

Didn't really get too many dark, sinister undertones. Just a **** show to borrow Dana's phrase

It was awful with Floyd coming out on top (despite his own attempts to **** it up even) in a verbal battle, which is frankly incredible.

Conor did what he does, it fell flat tonight, Floyd did what he does,it worked in parts tonight but really it was a race to the bottom from both men and the Irishman won that race

Think McGregor should really stay away from the racial stuff, it's really unnecessary.

I genuinely hope McGregor doesn't get too carried away and emotional tomorrow and make the whole thing look like a bad Jerry Springer episode. He's dealing with a guy who beats the sh1t out of women (on at least 4 separate occasions), owns a strip club, kicks reporters out of press conferences, uses stupid catchphrases, calls himself Money, has a stupid rap song about himself; yet managed to come off as a bigger asshole than him tonight! (That's no mean feat).

The biggest thing about tomorrow for McGregor will be that the crowd will be in his favour in a major way, he will feed off that (in probably a more measured way) and he should come out of it looking fine. The audio issues tonight, like the first didn't help him either, but the main part of it is that there really isn't that many Irish born people living in LA or New York, whereas Toronto and London have thousands and thousands.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had a few snorts of funny powder last night, and was either coming down or took more today.

    Happy birthday Conor...

And this is because everyone was scrambling to be the most offended by him saying "boy",he came out tonight feeling he had to address it but ballsed that up big time!!

I'd hate to see these commentators or journalists that got bent out of shape from an Irishman saying boy if they ever ended up in Cork, their heads would explode, bai!! ;)

Here Conor I wrote you a speech:

"What's up London! Thank you all for showing up to support this event I've always been grateful for all the love you've shown me. So, about last night (laugh)... you can't go to New York and not have a few drinks the night before your birthday (haha) ... I once said "I'll apologise to absolutely nobody" but the truth is I'd like to offer a heartfelt sorry to anybody who was offended last night because that simply isn't me. I've nothing but love for every human being, it makes no difference if you're black, white, male, female, straight or gay - we were all created equal.

So why are we here? We're here because of an incredible amount of hard work over many years that have got me to this position. I'd be nowhere without my coaches , my training partners, my friends, my family, my beautiful girlfriend and Conor Jr. and, of course, the support of the UFC from the legendary Ferttita Brothers to Dana White now to WME.

We're going up against a supremely gifted boxer, a defensive genius under the limited rule set. Nothing but respect for what Floyd has achieved in his career. A 5-weight World Champion in a 20+ year career as a pro, the highest earning combat fighter in history (despite his little tax issue ha!)... but no, you can't hate on that. So much respect to Floyd.

But let's be real there's only one true fighter up here on this stage.

Beating the best boxer of our generation, succeeding where all the others failed won't be an easy feat but I've been here before facing an uphill task and I've always managed to come through. I'm going to get into that ring August 26th and fight my heart out for myself, for my family and for all of you who have supported me on this incredible journey and, trust me, with hard work and your support, my hand will be raised at the end of this incredibly tough contest.

Once again, thank you for all my fans at home in Ireland, here in London and around the world I wouldn't be where I'm standing if it wasn't for you. Let's go and do this!"

Try remembering that after a few lines of powder you wouldn't get far! And not enough swearing either, no mention of how rich he is. Don't think he'll go for it!

Conor should just point to the advertising board behind them and sound out what it says directly to Floyd.

    ''Floyd ya little illiterate bitch, it's time for school. Look and listen;

    MAY...WEATH...ER...VERSUS...MC...GREG...OR...T...MOBILE....ARENA...AUGUST... TWENTY...SIX''

  • Registered Users Posts: 735 ✭✭✭Django99

Muhammad Ali: It is befitting that I leave the game just like I came in, beating a big bad monster who knocks out everybody and no one can whup him. That's when little Cassius Clay from Louisville, Kentucky, came up to stop Sonny Liston. The man who annihilated Floyd Patterson twice. HE WAS GONNA KILL ME! But he hit harder than George. His reach is longer than George's. He's a better boxer than George. And I'm better now than I was when you saw that 22-years old undeveloped kid running from Sonny Liston. I'm experienced now, professional. Jaws been broke, been knocked down a couple of times, I'm bad! Been chopping trees. I done something new for this fight. I done wrestled with an alligator. That's right. I have wrestled with an alligator. I done tussled with a whale. I done handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail. That's bad! Only last week I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick! I'm so mean I make medicine sick!

    Don King: Bad dude!

Muhammad Ali: Bad, fast! Fast! Fast! Last night I cut the light off in my bedroom, hit the switch and was in the bed before the room was dark.

Imagine if someone could come up with anything remotely as good as what that was, I wonder would it be well received today? Or is really all about "fcuk the mayweathers" and calling each other bitches?

What was the story with the crowd last night? The crowd noise seemed off when McGregor was speaking. Showtime up to their usual tricks or just a flat crowd?

Mayweather was better however. 2-1 Floyd. Conor needs to pull something big out of the bag today in London.
