Episode 3 was good. A bit slow but a setup for Bill to realise whats going on.

Is it just me but the Doctors wife is like a blonde Sandra Bullock ? Even down to her voice.

I haven't see last night's yet, but I disliked the first three episodes a lot. Very boring.

However, Episode 4 saved it for me.

Now that Bill has copped on, things should move forward.

Regarding last night's episode, the only version I can find that the American cousins have provided so far is a fake!
It's correctly named as episode 5, but contains an extraordinarily NSFW/NSFL video (bestiality)!
It's showing up as a 159.50 MB file.

    Not very nice cousins.

Oh, that confrontation scene was magnificent. :pac: :D Directed by Peter Weller too.

When given the material Brendan is a monster of an actor he must be so intimating to stand across from when in full flow trying not to forget your lines.

I really struggled through episode 1 of this season, and last night got to about half way through episode two at the point where
Brody looks like he's controlling the nurse???
and I just had to stop it, but I was tired at the time. I'll come back to this tonight I think, but it's really dragging the arse out of something that should have finished with Brody's death last season.

A victim of it's own success, I think.

Keep watching. It found its feet in Episode 4 and Episode 5 was excellent.

    Episodes 1-3 were a slog.

Yeah it does get better! Not as good as season 1 but hey ho

I've watched up to episode 7 now, and although I can see where it's going, I don't really like this theme this year.

However I am interested to see what happens in episode 8 now, after that last scene in episode 7. It's definitely peaked my interest, but I still don't like the premise of the story :)

Not enjoying the second season as much as the first. The supernatural elements just don't work for me. I'll keep watching simply because Brendan Gleeson is brilliant

To skip the spoilers I didn't read the thread but this is back on RTE 2 on the 22nd this month.

yesh just caught up on season 2 and its got ridiculous with the si fi story its completely ruined the first season of this brilliant show. We are on episode 8 now and just now is some serious stuff happening its been dragged out the characters and actors are the only thing holding this show together right now.

They should have done another killer this season a copycat of Brady or something a fanatic maybe I dunno but dragging the Brady character into season 2 for this type of story when the first was so very grounded in reality is too much of a stretch to buy into this story for season 2

I gave up on it after season 1. I really like the cast, especially Brady, but I don't like Brendan Gleeson in his role: doesn't work for me at all. Not a fan of his, and I find him very hard to watch.

Ending of episode 7 and episode 8 were very good
Where’s Brady off to I wonder, the wait for episode 9 is a killer

I'm loving season 2, gets better with each episode. Can't rate Brendan G highly enough for this.

Burned through the first series of this over the last couple of nights. Some of the best TV I've seen.

Every character is an absolute gem. But Gleeson, especially, is putting in a great shift. Brilliant stuff. Just great character writing and acting.

    Moving onto series 2 tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,455 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

    Well...Jesus...that show took a nosedive.

Series 2 is in no way up to the quality of Series 1. It's completely lost me (we watched 5 episodes) and I'm not on board with the supernatural mind control nonsense. I know it's Stephen King and all, but after the grounded story of the first series, the hocus-pocus silliness is not doing it for me at all.

The characters are all still very good, even if a number of them have been rendered almost pointless. But, the story is a real duffer.

Haven't seen a TV show dive off of a cliff this badly in a second series since 'Dexter'.

    Really disappointing. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,736 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

    Watched episode 9
Loved the start of it with the background track “walk like a man” as Brady is going for a stroll up the road lol
The ending has Brendan in one cell and Brady in the next
Good stuff and I’m eagerly waiting the next and final episode of the season

Eh Dexter was awesome in season 2 .
And while we are at awesome in 3 and 4 as well , it was 5 it started to have real problems

    just watched finale
    What the H !

I still enjoyed season 2 due the acting and pace of the show but it was not a patch on Season 1 the supernatural piece felt out of place and that ending makes it feel all a little pointless

Nah, that whole Lila thing was bloody awful.

It got better towards the end though. But, it's easily the worst series of the show for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,722 ✭✭✭Thud

not enjoying season 2, first 2 episodes were very slow.

Holly crosses over into Stephen King's latest book The Outsider wonder if that's lined up for next series

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

The actors did a great job however they were sadly let down by the writing.

    I can't see a season 3 happening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,616 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I can. It's a three book series and they need to do the third season to finish the story.

It'll hurt future box set sales and stream licensing if they don't finish it.

This season is the 3rd book, they skipped the 2nd book

But they might do the second book as series 3, because Brady is dead now.

In fact, that would make more sense than the way King did it.

Finished season 2 and the ending wasn’t a surprise at all and a slight let down

So we watch a whole season of rebuilding Brady only for Brady to die after 1 episode up and about it all felt so pointless even more so cause Brady didn’t really do anything noteworthy when he was up and outside

I enjoyed the final two. Hard to beat the fun of watching a frustrated "it's all fupped" Bill. The court room stuff was pure pantomime stuff, at least initially. Don't think all those medical experts would agree so easily, but hey, it's TV. As for Lou/Brady, normally, I react more strongly to sudden events (depending on how they're done), this was fairly WTF/bonkers that it just felt 'oh right'. Think there was close up of Lou's gun in 2.09, iirc. I was hoping her quiet word might have revealed the old Brady in court.

Fred's still got his lettuce. :D

I really did enjoy that season, mostly due to Brendan Gleeson admittedly, but it's not remotely as good as the first and a bit too out there.

If there's no S3 it would still be worth watching both....you could consider the end of S2 and 'ending' of sorts, albeit not entirely satisfactory, though the first season can stand alone really either.

Gleeson is the best bit about season 2!

Have people read the books? King goes bat **** crazy like he does to most good things he writes in book 2 . Haven't watched season 2 yet but at a guess he had great characters , Gleeson and some mental departs from season one which are tame compared to what happened in the books ?

It's frustrating as hell as he writes some of the best characters ever and they get wasted in mediocrity and worse. Like under the dome, Jim Remmie was one of the most hateful characters King has ever written and didn't even come close to matching him on screen.

Can't argue with that :pac: :pac:

I think that the writers on the second season didn't even read the premise of the first one. It's like a completely different show. Psychological thriller to psychobabble in an instant.

There is no point in watching season 3. It'll probably have Brady controlling people from beyond the grave, and then the Devil will turn up and inhabit the tortoise, and then....

The show might be called Mr.Mercedes, but it could survive with Brady dead. If anything, a new case against a new serial killer and bring it back to reality as opposed to what they did with Season 2 could be a welcome return to form.

Agreed. The show needs a whole new direction. Hopefully with writers not addicted to lsd.
    Season 2 was a trainwreck.

My god. That was torturous. Just finished season 2. I am still not sure that Brendan Gleeson can act. Of course, the writers have to give a stereotypical high level of f-bombs for an Irish character, which doesn't help. Still. Thought it was poor anyway. The courtroom stuff was tedious. The mind control stuff was pure bilge. Not a patch on Season 1. Wherever this is going with Season 3, would want to be good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,455 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

I've zero interest in a season 3, because the second outing was so bad.

But, I'd be willing to have a look, if it can somehow eliminate 2 by not making a single reference to it.
