I have a climbing rose which has been established for a few years. Although it produces plenty of flowers, they are very weak in the sense that the slightest rain will destroy them. The plant is in a corner spot and not over exposed to the elements. Any idea why this is please?

Sometimes that is just how it is. Another variety could have robust flowers that are pretty much undamaged by even quite severe weather. However the strain is bred can result in disease resistance, scent, double middles in the flowers, colour, etc. You just happen to have one that is easily damaged by rain.
