Getting around Boston on a budget?

I'm going to Boston next month and I found a good value hotel but its a bit out of town but it is near a subway. My question is, whats the best way to get around town and back every day whilst not breaking the bank, is there a 7 day unlimited pass or something like that?

If you are flying into Logan, get the silver line bus to South Station which is free. While in South Station purchase a Charlie ticket valid for seven days on subway & buses. It cost me $19 in both 2015 & 16. Great value on both red & green lines ;););)
