I hated him in Benson.....and in Stargate SG-1. Horrible characters in both. But he was a brilliant actor, and had such a wide range.

Thought he was great in Boston Legal.

    RIP

    edit

Knew he was a prolific actor, but a look at his imdb page......he was in everything!

He used to spend Christmas in Ireland, in Ashford Castle. Was very well liked by the staff there, I'm sure they'll miss him this Christmas.

David Bellamy has died, he went a bit mad in his later years but he was on his more populist level as important as David Attenborough when it came to environment and natural world.

David Bellamy has died, he went a bit mad in his later years but he was on his more populist level as important as David Attenborough when it came to environment and natural world.

I was listening to The Hard Shoulder on the radio last night and apparently Bellamy said some whacky things about climate change in 2004 which got him blackballed from broadcasting. That's why he suddenly vanished from the public eye. He was bitter about it too.

I wondered what happened to him because he just seemed to disappear.

Bellamy, who lived in county Durham, later attracted criticism for dismissing global warming. In 2004, he described climate change as “poppycock” and later said the stance cost him his TV career.

Speaking to the Independent in 2013, he said: “All of the work dried up after that. I was due to start another series with the BBC but that didn’t go anywhere, and the other side [ITV] didn’t want to know. I was shunned. They didn’t want to hear the other side.” Asked by the paper if he stood by his statement, Bellamy said: “Absolutely. “It is not happening at all, but if you get the idea that people’s children will die because of CO2 they fall for it.”

He believed the solar cycles/sunspots were the causes of climatic change, and it's true they have an effect over a long time frame but weirdly he never understood that carbon was a factor in the shorter, given he was a botanist therefore studed carbon cycles it seems genuinely strange he couldn't see the link with releasing many billions of tonnes of it into the atmosphere every year.

(that said if he stuck to an agreed script I see no reason why he shouldn't have keep on working)

Nicky Henson who was in one episode with about 8 minutes of screen time!
Henson played the role of Mr. Johnson in Fawlty Towers episode The Psychiatrist. He has stated that despite his 50 years of professional acting, his tombstone will probably read "Here lies Nicky Henson – he was in one episode of Fawlty Towers

He was much more employed as the star of Shine On Harvey Moon

I was going to say you are confusing him with Kenneth Granham until i remembered they revived that show in the 90s.
